24 Mar 12 - 11:53 AM (#3328156) Subject: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: olddude Well it is very unusual to have this warm weather in March, so I left the sliding glass door open on my deck. Well you know I have 4 dogs, 3 are wiener dogs and one is a fat black bear dog. My town is filled with squirrels and not the human kind either. Well ya got it, a big grey wandered into my house. Dogs went nuts, squirrel went nuts, jumping on everything, climbing up the curtains. Chaos ensued .. to say the least. My Mrs is off to a play and I am home alone. Trying to get the dogs outside, catch the critter from room to room. finally I nailed him with a fishing net. It was right out of the Chevy Chase Christmas vacation movie ... now I gotta straight out all the knocked over stuff, including my coffee cup ... Good morning olddude |

Of the course the door locked behind me and there i was in the middle of the street half dressed and trying to wake my son up to let me in. My squirrel ate his way in thru a screen to get at a bowl of fruit. Fun, No? Dude? |

24 Mar 12 - 03:27 PM (#3328260) Subject: RE: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: Bat Goddess We've got a flying squirrel hanging out somewhere in the kitchen. I talked at him the other night. Tom's the only one of us to figure out the Hav-A-Heart and he, alas, won't be home for awhile. The cats are useless. I think Rufus is keeping the squirrel as a pet. Sabine has retired from being Sheena Queen of the Jungle and Scourge of Flying . What's the world coming to? Linn |

Might be some squirrel huggers read it. Linn... ya try Google or You Tube for using the trap? Squirrels are rats with bushy tails. |

25 Mar 12 - 10:09 PM (#3328910) Subject: RE: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: GUEST,leeneia A young squirrel got into our house once. What a to do! The cat shot back and forth, back and forth at high speed, yelling "Let me at it!" while the squirrel shot all around the house. Finally it took shelter behind the wardrobe near the front door. We tossed the cat into a room and closed the door, and my husband took a walking stick and tried to nudge it gently toward the door. It mistook that for an attack, and screamed the most piteous screams of terror and pleading. Then it suddenly saw the open door and shot out of the house. I hope the people who make horror movies never hear that sound, because if they used it in a movie, no viewers would ever sleep for quite a while. |

26 Mar 12 - 10:46 AM (#3329105) Subject: RE: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: GUEST,leeneia "Squirrels are rats with bushy tails." No, they aren't. Squirrels won't come in your dwelling and bite your baby. They don't gnaw through everything, including concrete. I wish the squirrels would leave my tomatoes alone, but I wouldn't trade them for rats, nosirree. |

27 Mar 12 - 10:33 AM (#3329658) Subject: RE: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: ranger1 Don't insult rats by comparing them to squirrels. Rats are extremely intelligent and squirrels are pretty stupid. And while I'm not overly fond of the run of the mill sewer rat, I do like the domestic ones that can be found in pet stores. |

27 Mar 12 - 10:40 AM (#3329663) Subject: RE: BS: The great Squirrel Chase From: Greg F. Squirrels stupid? Ya wouldn't know it from the way they're able to evade and/or figure out every ploy I've tried over the years to keep 'em out of my bird feeders. But I've got nothing against rats. |
