Jim Marshall has passed away aged 88. His amplifiers were popular, but maybe not so much in folk music tho!

Sad news indeed he was a clever and by all accounts modest man Marshall acoustic amps are popular with many folk musicians myself included

A great man in his field. I used a 100w Marshall for many years - mainly for jazz and blues. Being valve driven, it got the sulks with old age and developed a dry joint that, in spite of all the investigations mustered and tried, killed the amp stone dead on important gigs like Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve! But it was a great sound while it lasted, and I've not played one since that had its warmth.

RIP Jim.

RIP Jim - still, at least all those at The Big Gig In The Sky will now have someone to keep their celestial amplifiers in good fettle!! ;o)

88 isn't a bad innings...

Will - if you still have that amp, I know someone who can fix it - properly. He's also good with Fender Twins, AC30s, Selmer Truvoices and the like - if it's got valves he can fix it, and he's brilliant with solid state stuff, too - unless it's digital!!

A lovely feller.
Very nice to my 12-year old budding guitarist son many years ago - gave him lots of encouragement (and free stuff).

RIP bonny lad.

I hope that doesn't mean my little amp will go wrong.
