06 Apr 12 - 10:04 AM (#3334477) Subject: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: Bobert Well, well, well... When we last visited the Saga of Step-ie & The Princess, the plan was for them to be out on or about April 7th and... ...lo & behold, the exorcism is complete!!! Yup... At approximately 3:30 this morning the P-Vine was awake and heard the door shut, the sound of the U-Haul truck starting and rose long enough to see the tail lights disappearing down the long gravel driveway in route to Fairyland... Since I asked that the last thread be closed the games purdy much continued along the same grooves as last reported with one final surprise, which I will get to shortly... Yes, the P-Vine and Step-ie haven't spoken 10 words and the Princess has alternately camped out at her $9 an hour coffee shop job or returned the "The Cell" (our guest room) where Step-ie has continued to prepare meals for her and deliver on a tray... Me??? I have managed to maintain my good-cop persona with Step-ie & The Princess and my Roger-ian counselor/compassionate mate persona with the P-Vine all the while counting the days hoping that things wouldn't blow and ya'll would be getting the last chapter on the evening news... lol... Okay, half lol... Don't think that bizarre final chapters haven't entered my mind... That brings me to the surprise/final chapter... So last night Step-ie & The Princess came into my studio/office/man-cave andasked if they could talk with me... "Sure, have ya'll a sit down..." So Step-ie went out of his way to tell me how much he appreciated the opportunity to stay with us and how much respect he had for the way I have handled things and in essence blew a bunch of flattering smoke up my posterior... I thought it would never end... I also thought there was a monster "but" coming and sho nuff there was... ..."But mother owes us an apology!!!" Well, that little move is one I fully expected and was ready for and used that request/demand as an opportunity to tell Step-ie that I had just one more talk that we needed to have about "Mothers & Sons"... I told them that that conversation was for Step-ie and me to have alone and offered to drive to Fairyland one day next week, take Step-ie to lunch and have that not-so-little talk... They seemed to take that well as it was delivered in a non-threatening manner... I have the entire "primer" outlined in my mind and will be taking props with me... Of course, Step-ie, who know has a deeper understanding of how I operate might re-think making himself available but I have no control over that... So, my friends, the saga ends... I can't say it ended well but I can say that even if I had known how it would end it was still the correct thing to do... Two grand daughters now have their father back in their lives and Step-ie & The Princess have an opportunity to get their lives in order... My princess, the P-Vine, has sacrificed greatly and even if Step-ie & The Princess never admit it, they owe her a monsterously big thank you and apology for the childish games they have played with her... Of course, that's going to be the underlying message in "The Talk" I have planned for Step-ie... Thank you all for your thoughts, your prayers, your ideas, your support, your compassion and for being here for me (us) during this ordeal... Bobert |

06 Apr 12 - 10:28 AM (#3334486) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: katlaughing I'd say it ended well in that they are out of your house!! Congrats! You did a great job of dealing with it. Kinda funny they "snuck away into the night," but it's easier for them not to have to say good-bye. I learned that when my daughter moved out with our grandson. So glad you have the house to yourselves, now! kat |

06 Apr 12 - 02:08 PM (#3334626) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: GUEST,CS I'm still at a loss to know what your beef really was though B? You disliked your step daughter in law because while living with you and working and saving (though you choose to disbelieve this despite their moving out as planned) she didn't clean the house because (and you choose to disbelieve this also) she was also sick with Lymes disease while working. Your son in law (I note you tended to de-humanise these people with abbreviations?) apparently you were less pissed off with, despite not working at all and sometimes cleaning up after his various kids by ex-marriage who came to stay at weekends. This whole scene lasted something between three and four months - a tiny amount of time. In which time you also started to freak over the idea that your ten year old grand-daughter by marriage, might be sinisterly attempting to wheedle her way into her Grandma's house! Ever consider you might have your own issues around having an in-law family? Sincerely, no bullshit CS |

06 Apr 12 - 02:39 PM (#3334640) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: Jack the Sailor Gosh, I am sorry I missed all of this underlying psycho-drama. I just thought that Bobertz was just venting to us in his usual humorous way and that he did not use real names because THEIR NAMES ARE NONE OF OUR F***ING BUSINESS. I am especially disturbed that I missed the fact that P-Vine, according to the logic of the previous "GUEST,CS" post must be the ACTUAL NAME of Mrs. Bobertz and not some dehumanizing nickname. And that Bobertz is obviously his only and given name because how could he dehumanize himself? I'm glad you got your house back Bobert. I think I missed some of the news. Did Stepie get a job as a cook? How far away did they move? BTW, Not being as patient as you, under the same circumstances as you, I might have said, in a purely rhetorical way. "Show gratitude where it is due. Do you think you would have been able to move in with me if I wasn't living with your mother?" :-) |

06 Apr 12 - 02:53 PM (#3334650) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: GUEST,CS S'okay Jack, no need for any righteous indignication on B's part. B chose to put his tale out there for the world to comment upon, and I as one of said world expressed a comment on the tale he told. I'm sure both he and all the MC homies will cope! CS |

06 Apr 12 - 03:03 PM (#3334655) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: John MacKenzie Bobert, I can't really find adequate words to express my admiration for your restrained approach to this traumatic event. I think you came out of it smelling of roses, and the one person I feel came worst out of it was the lovely P Vine. The poor lady was torn every which way, by a situation which I wouldn'd wish on my worst enemy. Give her my love, and please, take her out for a treat, a meal or a trip somewhere she loves. Respect to you both. John |

06 Apr 12 - 05:11 PM (#3334704) Subject: RE: BS: Empty Nest Empty Again - HOORAY!!! From: Bobert Well, thankee folks... It is a major relief to have our house back and the bad Karma gone... The P-Vine - and, yes, that is her name (okay, not birth name but everyone has called her that since she was a baby and it's even in her high school yearbook that way) - is so calm now... As for Step-ie and the Princess??? Yes, JtS hit it right... It would have served no purpose to use their real names and given the way the inter-net works would have ended up being couter-productive... As for the Princess??? Yeah she gets credit for working even if it was 3 or 4 six hour shifts a week... She gets no credit for not pitching in to clean up after herself... Thanks again, ya'll... B~ |
