It's that time again. John Barden will be hasting the singarounds on Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday, with Ruff'n'Reddy Saturday afternoon and Monday. Dal has upped his ale order to over 40 kegs and has slabbed the are of the garden, covered by the marquee.See you there

Or after a few pints may be slowing the sinagrounds.

And when the beer is all gone on Monday, don't forget to come and see RC4 at the Crown on Monday afternoon between Simon's performances...

Note to self - book taxis. I wonder how many people I will accommodate this year.

Saw that in the programme. Will sneak out at some stage and join you for a few minutes, as I enjoyed your perfomance at the GI

Can't wait to see you all again. Looking forward to coming again this year. Will bring my guitar this time and impose a few new songs on you all. Must remember not to drink too much this time. Oh what the heck!!

Being new to the folk scene last year, this was my first Sweeps. I thoroughly enjoyed the singarounds and meeting so many lovely people who have now become friends. I can't believe a whole year has gone by.

It's great to meet new friends each year. The accusation has been made by some, that it is always the same hosts. I know that I speak for John Barden, to say that the veriety of music, produced by visitors to the festival, is amazing. We look forward to seeing and hearing you again.

While having taken the opportunity to plug my band above, I should say that the sessions in the GI are what I basically go to Sweeps for and many friends come from miles to participate in, youngsters (well, 30 or under some splendid musicians who ought to be FORCED to play)and those less young. Be there or be condemned to pub-rock in other places. My house will be a hostel for the weekend and probably a 15-seat minibus chartered, so get to the GI and make it an EVENT!

Assuming NO offers of Paid Work I may well make a trip over on Pubic Transport just to enjoy the excellent beer and 'Orribly Average music !

At the 1974 Falmouth Festival a small group of us decided the BEST any
Folk Music could EVER be is ' Average '

Hoorah... someone's back on the Mudcat. We will be staying a bit outside the centre of town... so will be taxiing in too. Will mostly be at the G.I. I think... though will probably come and support RC4 on the way home. Are any of you up for The Seven Stars in the evening ?

As you say, Richard, Wevva looks crap. However, Karen and Dal have ordered a sodding great big tent and paved the usual soggy bit of grass

Forecasts now inconsistent but one at least predicting Sunday monsoon quality. Apart from that, lots of beer barrels lined up waiting to be emptied. Was it 56?

I dont care if the rain is Biblical what difference will it make we are up on a high hill with a huge tent outside and a warm seated area inside. Has long as the beers wet who give a sod?
Never heard such a song and dance about weather:)

Had a great session on May Day. Thirty eight barrels racked outside, with a further eight inside. Karen and Dal have ordered a huge 'L' shaped marquee, so the weather doesn't matter. So drink and be merry and dry

Friday night was mental, sessions going on in the bar and a seperate impromptu one in the marquee. The 40 od barrels of ale going fast. I left about midnight and there was np indication of it slowing down

Saturday has been mental too...

And as for that 13% cider. It seems to have claimed a number of victims.

Yeh, I think Dave Blosse may have been the first one on Friday evening. He had two in fairly quick succession! Mind you, that cider does taste nice. (I only had a sip though. Honest!)

He did, however, turn up at our gig on Saturday (early afternoon) looking quite well. You can't beat experience!

I enjoyed Friday evening at the GI. I was otherwise engaged yesterday (Saturday), but I hope to add my dulcet tones to the proceedings today, even if only for a short while. (I'd better get down there before the beer runs out!)

Missing you all. Glad that you are doing more than justice to Dal's beer and cider. Don't say he's going to run out, yet again! We have fingers and toes crossed that we'll get over for the RC4 gig tomorrow lunchtime in The Crown.

Heavens! 13%? That's the volume of a drenkable bottle of plonkity!
Umm, I think we should all be advised of the cider in question - only in order to avoid said dire consequences of course.. sounds awful!

Yes Richard. Proposed a vote of thanks to Karen and Dal, on Suday, all agreed. They do this despite being screwed by Enterprise Inns, meaning that the price they pay for their ale, does not allow them to make a decent profit, despite their hard work.

Coopers used to be the "head" pub back when I was 20 - great. I have not been in for YEARS but it's good it's back and I hope PJ's sessions there went well, but I'd rather sing than plunk (and I can't squeeze or scrape) - hence the whole weekend in the GI apart from when we were booked (at the Crown on the Monday, and the Crown were quite helpful and nice to us)

Linda and I got over to Rochester yesterday and had no sooner parked the car and started walking back towards the High Street than I spotted Pierre Le Chapeau waving through the window of a cafe, so said hello to him and Rachel full of the idea of getting up to the Good Intent for the session there....but it never happened :-( . Despite living in Kent for 22+ years this was the first time we'd ever been to Rochester so we by the time we'd had a gaw around the High Street, cathedral, castle etc we realised that if we ran we might JUST get up here for the last couple of songs.

Sorry to have missed it as I haven't been able to get to the Seven Stars sessions for ages now and had hoped to renew some acquaintances. Oh well, I'll just have to get up to Foot's Cray soon instead. Glad it went well.
