Piggies Folk Ale 2012

Booking is now open for the 2012 Folk Ale, taking place 7th - 10th June at The Kentish Horse Markbeech, Edenbridge (West Kent).

Guests this year include Phil Beer - Doug Hudson - Hot Rats...more info and online tickets from www.folkale.co.uk

Thanks to Keith and Lyndsey for sorting out this year's guest list, and to all those who have offered to help. Without this support, Piggies wouldn't be happening this year.

About time this was refreshed, eh?

Delightful little festy with warm atmos and lovely peeps. Notwithstanding the sadness of the loss of Grant Rule one of the founders, I think it should be splendid yet again.

And so I've been advised, I believe there will this year be a Trad. Singers/Ballad Sesh (or something similarly slanted) hosted by Alan & Linda in the hall over the road.
This year I'll be leaving most of my old 'uns at home (mainly becos of logistics) tho' me auld fella will be bringing me along, so I've def. got to get a couple more proper ballads set to memory for that.

Bugger, just realised there was a craft fair - should have got my err shit together!

I'm still waiting for clarification about my camping pitches...

RC4 will be in the FOFA on Sunday. About 1-ish I think.

we have tickets... echoing CS take on the event. Wonderful. And huge thanks to organisers for keeping it going.

Didn't clock the craft fair. Interest sent to Lyndsey. CS, if you have some bits we could share a table.

"CS, if you have some bits we could share a table."

I've given away the better bits and need to redo others. If I'd realised a couple of months ago, I might have had something ready now. Bit too late for me, but mbe next year?

Tone Deaf Leopard will again be hosting the Friday afternoon in the Marquee. There is an open mic. scheduled for 2.00. p.m... but hope to get it up and running a bit earlier ifd circumstances allow. At 4.00
there will be the first of the FOFA concerts....there were so many to fit in this year that we have overspilled onto Friday !

Concert starts at 4.00 with Tone Deaf Leopard (you have to be here on Friday to hear our set!)

Next up is John Barden, with Linda Smith and Alan Austen closing.

Hope as many of you can get there on Friday will do so.

Time to resurrect the Brian Rodgers bog-driving trophy?

Especially as Mr and Mrs Rodgers will be in attendance this year.
Talking of which, we have purchased a new portaloo - a higher one.
This leaves the original spare should anyone need one. Already had the joke on Facebook that we should empty them instead of discarding them, thank you.

Rachel, I don't believe that's you. If it is, tell me where you were and what you were doing last night between 9pm and 11 pm, and who was sitting on your left.

PS - for the smutty minded, there were others present in abundance and it was a public place and I saw nothing indecent occur.

Gina tells me she has had a new surface laid to the entrance to the campsite field which should make it easier to get out in muddy conditions. As long as you can actually get as far as the gateway, that is....

I hope to be on the field for about Three. I have offered to volunteer with helping set up , so I will pitch tent and go and see whosoever is in charge of the setting up too see if anything needs doing. I don't mind stewarding or cleaning ,lifting lugging pushing or pulling but I do not want to be stuck in a ticket booth or indoors.

"Please note that the campsite opens at 4.00 pm on Thursday 7th June and not before!"

A direct quote from the official website at http://www.grantrule.org/folkale/

And from the page about volunteering at http://www.grantrule.org/folkale/volunteers/

"Can You Help?
Volunteers Wanted!

The Folk Ale is an inclusive and self-organising event. If you are willing to help out with the various chores to be done, please let us know. Contact John or Jan Barden

We particularly need people with some knowledge of PA systems to help out Ty Watling on the sound desk. If you can be a Sound Man or Sound Woman for a couple of hours please contact Ty Watling to volunteer your services.

We also need people to help with the shop, ticket sales, stewarding and general dogsbodying – please find John or Jan Barden on your arrival or talk to the folk in the festival shop to add your name to the volunteer rota and find out what needs doing when.

Artists with CDs for sale are welcome to set them out in the shop – leave pricing information with the ticket people and they will collect the monies for you. Please remember to collect your takings and your remaining cds before you leave!"
