We don't get much going on in this part of the world ( if you discount Banbury ) ,but a few things are happening In South Oxon over the next few days ;
    Oxford Folk Weekend tomorrow and Sunday looks interesting, with all sorts of things going on at Oxford Castle,The Old Fire Station ,and one or two "surprise" venues .Benji Kirkpatrick is amongst the headliners.
      Then on Monday ,Nettlebed Folk Club are having Brass Monkey
( Last week's guest was Andy Irvine , who was fantastic !)
       Then , on Thursday, there'll be a "session"at the Coachmakers Arms in Wallingford ,with the inimitable and irrepressible Bill McKinnon !
    After that, bugger all again.

I've always thought that there was quite a lot of folk stuff happening in Oxfordshire (sessions, morris, ceilidhs, concerts). Did you enjoy Folk Weekend, Bubblyrat?

Yes, I did ! I did a 4-hour stint on duty at the Castle on Saturday ,and met lots of people that I knew or had seen before.The various dance sides proved to be a popular attraction for the public ,especially the Belly-dancers and accompanying drummers.
                   I went looking for a pub "session" in the afternoon , was unable to find anyone at The Dukes Cut or The Blenheim ,but hit the jackpot with the Old Tom ,and had great time playing with a brilliant lady harmonica-player ( Jane ?) , a fiddle-player from Plymouth , OBJ Morris man David John Reuben King , and a very good melodeon-player called Jeremy Tozer .
                            Jeremy and his wife took me back to Oxford on the Sunday morning ,and I got an hour in with Jeremy et al at the "Far From The Madding Crowd " French session, before I did another period of duty at the Old Fire Station and enjoyed Mawkin , Short Drag Roger ,and the excellent Gavin Davenport ;A good weekend !

Does anything still happen in Abingdon? (I don't keep track, is it in Oxfordshire this week?)
