Thanks to Gnu for making me think of this

Yes, John. That is a good one. This Hour Has 22 Minutes is one of the best TV programs ever produced in Canada. Hilarious and saddening. Scathing and raucous. But always educational and "necessary".

Thanks JtS.

That was from the Rick Mercer Report. All Mercer all the time. He cut his comedy teeth on 22 minutes!

Sorry JtS. I just assumed and obviously should not have done so given the obvious dating of the clip with reference to Harpie.

All of Mercer's "rants" and such are worth watching, no matter what country you live in. Along with Marg Delahunty and The Princess Warrior and... take yer pic.

If you can find the one where Rick talks to Bush... it's F****** priceless.

And QE2 reports directly to the Bavarian Illuminati, who work for the Council of 12, who are just below the Secret Six, who operate out of a hidden Arctic Fortress.

Here is The Great Secret Librarians Know and you don't:

1. You obtain knowledge by reading.
2. Knowledge is power.
3. Power corrupts.
4. Corruption's a crime.
5. If you have knowledge you will go to jail.
6. If you don't have knowledge you will go to jail.
7. Life's a bitch, ain't it?

CSIS is gonna be on yer ass as soon as they get back from Tim's. And they'll be hopped up on caffeine and sugar so you'd better watch yer step or they just might write you a god damned letter.

For many years I thought Canada was actually called "United States North" and Canada was just a nickname. Now I know better and realize that it's secretly our 51st State, thanks to the treaty signed by Harper and Bush.

Still got a lot of water. Why do you think PQ wants to separate? Anyone who can get La Belle to separate will be rich beyond the wildest of dreams when the water is sold to the tri-states and beyond on the eastern seabord of the USA.

Culture? Horseshit. $$$. Oh, the peaseants are led by trash talk, but the politicians are led by cash.

As for the PQ thinking they would be better on there own, that is fookin delusional. United we stand, divided we get fooked, big time.

54-40 or Fight! Or maybe 50-50. Heck, I'm willing to compromise -- trade ya New York City and Washington, D.C., for Alberta Flames.

For the first time in decades, it looks like the Conservatives will not form the next Alberta Government. Good chance the Wildrose Party will take today's election. One can but hope.

And you sir are a Sassenach. THE Alberta team is Edmonton Oilers, not the Cowtown Flames.

My definition of Canada.
Big
Beautiful
Independent
Caring
Friendly
Love our neighbors (most of the time.)
Open to change (like legalizing marj.... and setting up injection clinics.)
Red Light district. Still in the works. But here is keeping my fingers crossed.
We still greet strangers on the street by saying " Hay!! how in the fuck are ya".
I could go on an on about our wonderful progressive country but I will stop now and let other folks add to this.

"Dear Revenue Canada,

Enclosed you will find my 2010 tax return showing that I owe $3,407.00 in taxes. Please note the attached article from the Toronto Globe and Mail; dated 12 November, wherein you will see the Canadian Department of National Defense is paying $171.50 per hammer and Fisheries and Oceans Canada has paid $600.00 per toilet seat for its icebreakers.    As payment, I am enclosing four (4) toilet seats (valued @ $2,400) and six (6) hammers valued @ $1,029), which I secured at Canadian Tire, bringing my total remittance to $3,429.00. Please apply the overpayment of $22.00 to next year's tax bill or a roll of toilet paper.   It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.

God Bless Canada!

Sincerely,

A Cape Bretoner"

Vachon cakes....Joe Louis, Flakie Pastries, Carmel Cakes, Half Moon-mmmm- a good dose of sugar and preservatives won't hurt anyone, at least once and awhile. Washed down with sugary Pepsi, sugar heaven. No surprise here that Quebec comes up with the best sugary junk stuff-to share with the rest of Canada. I salute to Vachon, and sugar pie.

Let the Yanks have their tastless "Little Debbie" crap. If I am going to invest in junk food, let it be really tasty junk stuff, at a minimum.

I used to take my uncle Chic hunting in his later years. Up at 4am, bacon and ham and eggs at his place at 5, hit Lyon's general store at 6. His wife was concerned about his health and the fact he had a few pounds on and had him on a healthy diet. When he would come out of the store, he had a box of Joe Louis and a paper bag filled with Sweet Marie's and Oh Henry's... and a Sweet Marie in his hand, munching away. All gone by the time I delivered him home in the evening.

Indeed. The lies told at the camp. The brisk fresh air. The long walks through the bush which yield all manner of sights and sounds and observing flora and fauna which no man has seen before. And, for me, years ago, taking game for a feast which surpasses anything one can purchase in town. Back further than that, putting food on the table.

A "table" is something you find in a book, like "Table 6." If you put meat on it the library will get all upset about their book.
