Lyr Req: Me and my Guitar (from Frank Jennings)

Could be "Baby and me, me and my guitar", my memory's not what it was, but that's the last line of the chorus.

It's a gentle ballad, on-the-road style, a man who wants no more of dishonest women, just him and his guitar. The song has to be at least 25 years old, and I cannot find it on the internet anywhere. I also can't beleive my Dad actually wrote it (sorry Dad!), so someone else must know it.

Thanks for your help,
Mojo

From: PHJim

Probably not the one you want, but this old Jimmie Rodgers tune came into my head when I read your post.

I could never be lonely; I could never be blue,
As I go through life if only I'd have my guitar and you.
Why should I ever worry? Why should I feel sad?
We travel along in a hurry, sharing the good and bad.
Whenever I'm up, you're near me, giving me happiness,
And when I'm down, you cheer me; nothing is better than this. [yodel]
Here we go, just we three; oh, how happy we will be!
I'll hook my ladder to a silver star and climb with you and my old guitar. [yodel]

Over the land we wander, buds(?) here and there,
But I never stop to ponder if the clouds are dark or fair.
In a one-horse town or city, no matter where we are,
I'm happy if I have with me you and my old guitar.
We'll travel the roads together, leading to lands afar,
Singing in all kinds of weather, and strumming my old guitar. [yodel]

Thanks, that is a lovely song. And the man gets both the guitar and the woman - a happy ending indeed!

I remembered a few more lyrics in the shower this morning (as you do!)

"Lady and me we had a real good time,
Travelling from coast to coast.
Made a lot of friends along the way.
Maybe we had more than most..."

That's the complete first half of a verse, but Google still won't find it. It's driving me nuts!

Mojo.

words are probably close to this
Id like you to meet a little friend of mine
Weve been together now for quite some time
Walking along the highway
North and south of every County line
People say weve got a future together
And some day be a star
Lady and me me and my guitar

Dont want to try to change the world
dont want to make the headline news
we just want to play our music
Any old time we choose

Lady and me We had a real good time
traveling from coast to coast
we made a lot of friends along the way
baby we had more than most
Now people say weve got a future together
And some day be a star
Lady and me Me and my guitar

Fairly sure song was performed by FRANK JENNINGS SYNDICATE

    Hope this helps

Ah, thank you! That's the one. I wonder why it's not more popular? It's a lovely old song.

Thanks again.
