The Everyman FC is indeed a good night out, I've enjoyed it everytime I've been (although I very rarely get there now it's on a Wed because of prior committments) - I have to say though, I really think that in one of the best cities in the world for beautiful buildings and fine pubs, this is a rather ugly venue which represents the worst of Liverpool's recent developments. And bar wise, I'm led to believe it doesn't serve ales.

I know this will sound like carping, but for me folk music isn't a thing on its own, but an expression of the wider culture of a place. And I worry that in this place it's hard to find myself inspired - ugly blocks of lego bricks and generic bars like that are a sign of the death of Liverpool culture, not it's vitality.

Sorry to speak so strongly about what remains an important and vibrant part of the Liverpool folk scene, especially seeing as I'm a massive admirer of Hughie Jones.

Fair comment Richard in terms of the architecture - not one of Liverpool's prettier or historic pubs, but:
- on-street parking available outside
- less able/disabled friendly
- a great collection of singers (and characters!)

With fewer and fewer city centre pubs providing affordable/free and appropriate facilities such venues (architecturally meritless as they certainly are) are helping keep our musical culture and heritage alive!

All welcome!

Extremely friendly, and I can manage without real ale for a night. Get along there; you won't be disapointed.

Ron.
