77 years ago today the universe produced an outstanding man. Bruce Duncan Phillips has touched the hearts of all of us, and he left us too soon. I miss him every day. RIP old friend.

The saddest part of losing someone is that with every ongoing day we leave them farther behind. I have never come to comfortable terms with that, and I would like to learn how.

RIP, Mr. Phillips.

If I live to be 100, I won't forget the one and only Utah Phillips. His songs. stories, rants, and personality will always be on my mind, and in my heart.

I see there are a few more episodes of his Loafer's Glory radio program available for download.

Bruce was a real thing.in every way-as a singer, living hard times and good times, a true original and exceptionally fine songwriter. I got to briefly meet him once when he was eating at the same restaurant me and my college friends were at, before his appearance at Cafe Lena.
Gracious and down to earth; they broke the mold.

His songs are welcome in any folk arena you can mention, and I usually sing a couple whenever I perform.
