Has anyone ever recorded a sung version of this song? I know that there is a version by I believe Sam Carson?,that is available on youtube but are there any other recordings?

There are at several from America but not issued commercially - one recorded by Art Rosenbaum from Maude Thacker in 1980 "King William and Duke Shambo" (Folk Visions & Voices p.64) another in Brewster Songs & Ballads of Indiana. Korson in Pennsylvania Songs & legends reproduces one from Samuel Bayard's collection, the Moores Ballads & Folksongs of the South West has another. From Ireland the only recording I can find - probably long deleted - in Sam Patterson on a cassette, Outlet CDULP10 "Songs of the Ulster Protestant".

That was the tune used for "Parcel of Rogues" - which seems to date from fairly close to 1707, in some version (I don't know of one earlier than Burns's rewrite). So I'd always assumed there was some verbal similarity. But I see none at all between PoR and any of the versions of "The Boyne Water" referenced here.
