Clive Road Party

A big thank-you to all the catters and other musicians who played and
sang at Clive Road on Sunday, and to Cari for providing a warm "dressing room", food and drinks (thanks also to Growler and Abbi) and organising our side of it.
And especially to Richard Bridge for providing and operating the PA all day, despite the awful weather and inclement electronics!

It was fun! I even enjoyed the under-14 (well, some of them) disco party at the end which gave the subs a nice workout: I had intended to bring an oomphier sub as well but the keeper went to Spain in stead of staying in to let me collect it!

The Gremlins ate my only just repaired 4-channel DI box, so the bugged fiddles were running into wholly the wrong impedance: that was the problem.

If it happens again I'll run unbalanced to the crossover for the power amps and switch the DI box I use to get a balanced send on stage in stead, as a work-round. But I was too panicked at the time to think that through.

I've also found in the bottom of my toybox a belt-pre-amp which might have sorted one fiddle even though it's designed for guitar. I'm currently inside it looking for the alleged tweak pot that adjusts teh input impedance - or maybe I should just surrender and start carrying complete pickup and preamp sets for fiddles - or insist that fiddlers stand still under perfectly good microphones!

Yes, well done Cari and Richard, and all others who chipped in. A really nice atmosphere.

I should have mentioned it was all OK until I plugged the melodeon in...

Hmm: so Ripov was not who I thought. Spies - investigate!
