29 Jun 12 - 12:13 PM (#3369610) Subject: RE: Brian Colley in critical care unit From: GUEST,mick via Philip Chisholm Brian Colley. He is on life support in North Tees hospital, very ill after a massive heart attack Monday. They tried to take him off deep ventilation (thurs) without success, he is not breathing on his own. They will try over the next few days to bring him off life support, they will have to talk to the family on what to do next. Sounds very bad. Please let his folk community know. |

02 Jul 12 - 10:17 AM (#3370715) Subject: RE: Brian Colley in critical care unit From: GUEST,Steve Dawes Most recent news on Facebook (Saturday) from Brian's friend Philip... "Just got back from visiting Brian, he is off ventilation and aware of my presence. He has more pipes in him than the space shuttle before launch. Not out of the woods yet, but he has shifts of two magnificent nurses who are constantly looking after him, indeed they are Angels. To watch them both actively giving him medication, taking his temperature, talking to him, measuring his response. Though ...the most praise has to go to 'Karen Powell' of the Job Centre, , Billingham she gave Brian CPR until the Paramedics got to him. Once there it took two zaps of the resuscitation to get his heart going. This girl Karen saved Brian's life, we have sent her flowers and a card. Magnificent to realise that after nearly a week on life support he has made it. All I can say is Thank you Karen you are our Hero!" Sounds a bit more encouraging to say the least. |

Post from Philip Chisholm to Brian Colley page 4 hours ago near Redcar (That makes 6pm Mon 2 July 2012) 'The Nurses got Brian sat up in a chair for a couple of hours this morning. He is still very confused as to himself, where he is and what is going on. They have ordered him some nicotine patches so that should make him feel better. It's going to take some little time before the get him onto the general ward. The nurses said he is a poorly man will need some looking after in the immediate future. Great news that he pulled through.' |

Brian is still in the Critical Care Unit but is sitting up in a chair and making slow progress. The nurse said that she didn't know when he was likely to be moved to a general ward. The hospital address is ..... North Tees Hospital Hardwick Road Stockton -on-Tees TS19 8PE I'm sure letters and cards will be appreciated. |
09 Jul 12 - 06:22 AM (#3373877) Subject: RE: Brian Colley in critical care unit From: nutty From Brian's friend Philip Chisholm on Facebook " Brian has discharged himself from hospital 24 hours after being moved out if critical care. He is sat at home smoking totally convinced that he has been knocked off his bike rather than being advised of the seriousness of his heart attack! It's hard to understand, very hard, to come to term with the fact that Brian would make such a tragic decision. We will just have to give him our very best support. " There's nothing to say really, except hope for the best outcome possible. We must each tread our own path through life, |
09 Jul 12 - 06:34 AM (#3373882) Subject: RE: Brian Colley in critical care unit From: stallion It is horrible being in hospital, i discharged my self early a couple of weeks ago and ended up back in two days later, the second trip was a bit hilarious, they were rushing me through A&E to the "Crash" station but they under steered the turn and ran me into the corner of the wall, I leapt two feet in the air (felt like it!) and fell off the trolley, it worked! Heart back in rhythm blood pressure back up! Seriously though, being in hospital is so 'orible I don't blame him, although he thinks he is better he is going to look back and think himself mad to have discharged himself. Fingers crossed for a full recovery. |

07 Aug 12 - 04:24 AM (#3387042) Subject: RE: Brian Colley illness - Latest News, 9 July 2012 From: GUEST Hi Brian, I was waiting for a bit more positive news before posting a message here. As you well know I don't embrace the electronic media very much and rarely bother with 'faceache' and 'mudbath' but this is a bit different. We were shocked and upset to hear about your misfortune but more than relieved to hear about the continued recovery. Meg did send a card from us both which hopefully cheered you a bit - though we're sure it was only one of many. Appologies for not having been able to come and visit but things have been a bit hectic as usual - I'll explain in more detail when I see you which, hopefully, will be before too long. All the Family send their best as well as Dave & Sue Hoy, Steve & Linda Black among many others but especially Meg & myself. We go back a hell of a long way, mate, and would like to think we can go on for a fair bit into the future. Get yourself one of these 'electronic fag' things like 'what I've got' - nobody believed I would knock smoking on the head but I haven't had a real ciggy since February 2nd - if I can do it so can you! Hope to see you at Saltburn All our best TOM & MEG WILSON |
