Brit Cheese Board: Cheddar Anthem compet

I heard bits of this yesterday...

Brits Battle For Cheesy Glory By Writing National Anthem For Cheddar (report on NPR)

Lyrics had to be set to one of three tunes: Pomp and Circumstance, Land of Hope and Glory (='God Save the Queen'), or Jerusalem. Four videos and one sound file for the five finalists are at the link.

There is one self-professed "Old Folkie" with guitar, and one trio called "Dr. Busker", featuring accordion, drum, and rhythm-gadget-whose-name-I've-forgotten, accompanied by cows. Not too surprisingly, I suppose, these both chose to use Jerusalem. There is also one entry using Pomp and Circumstance that uses what looks to me like a group at a pub singaround.

Anyone know these folks?

Here's the page at the British Cheese Board's website, with the same videos and soundfile, where you can vote until August 3: Competition.

What mean by Land Of Hope & Glory (='God Save The Queen')?

Greatly puzzled!

Now that's the sort of competition I like to get my songs banned from.

MtheGM - that's me displaying my ignorance and attempting to 'splain that which I do not fully understand. (OOPS.)

Hope I get this right in attempting to translate the cross-pondian confusion:

'Land of Hope and Glory' is known as 'Pomp and Circumstance' in the U.S. where it appears almost exclusively as the march for academic graduation ceremonies and nobody (at least not me) knows it by the name of the UK patriotic song, LoH&G. 'God Save the Queen' is the third tune choice in this competition, a tune which in the U.S. we know as the setting for 'My Country 'Tis of Thee'.

'Jerusalem' we don't do here at all, unless we're Monty Python fans.

Les Barker got there first (and best!) with 'The Hard Cheese Of Old England'!

Anyone who fancies entering this should tread Caerphilly.

What did the Yorkshire cheesemaker say when his Wensleydale went wrong and turned out all rubbery?

Eeeee, damn....
