Hi Folks,

I am looking for The Light Dragoon (found words but no ABC or dots and Oak Ash & Thorn neither although I have the words.

I would be happy with either ABC or dots.

Use the force, Les! If God had wanted us to read folk music he wouldn't have given us ears...

Sung by British & Irish Traditional Singers

It's actually sung by Harry List - of Swefling, Suffolk, was George Bloomfield's brother-in-law - which is the extent of biographical note in VOTP. How nice to see the lives of these cherished old singers celebrated in such exacting biographical detail.

Thanks Owen - I will keep an eye out so to speak.

Sean, I love that "if God had wanted" line it has so many possibilities - If god had wanted us to believe in him, why did he reveal himself to strange people in strange ways or Strangeways?

I have only been able to decipher the dot thingies since playing and sharing tunes in The Beech so I am a bit of a new convert and clearly have little better to do.

In passing songs to others they sometimes seem confused by the 'notes' I sing - hence the search for the secret code of dots.

I learned The LD from a guy, Geoff Ingham, in Leeds a thousand years ago. He worked on the Ham on the Bone counter in Lewis's on The Headrow. If you went in for a chat he would feed bits of ham. Much fun. O, A & T I first heard from Brian Senior and Keith Marsden ( Bring us a Barrel and many moer great songs) also Leeds.

Cheers

Les

Blandiver. Harry List. Eminently true, but I doubt there's anything more known about him than that.

For shame there isn't really. There ought to be. It should have been essential to Kennedy's mission.

Heyup Blandiver, wrap your ears around these guys I'm listening to right now. Mellow quirky genre hopping youth Jazz ensemble The Heliocentrics - funk, hip-hop, Miles, Sun Ra. Highly listenable, I really like.

Just a minor point here:

I assume you are after Bellamy's setting of Kipling's Tree Song. The music was published in 1971.

That's correct. I have the album O A & T and have enjoyed singing the song for many years but I would like the dots or the ABCexplorer file if anybody has them, also for The Light Dragoon.

Cheers
