Personally, I prefer Wheaton's enunciation better than Shatner's. Easier to understand, y'know. |
05 Aug 12 - 11:27 AM (#3386420) Subject: RE: BS: Mars landing: Shatner vs Wheaton From: Jack the Sailor I find Wheaton's over stressing of key words inferior to Shatner's lower key approach. Though I also dare say those are about the worse two to be reading that script. What I really needs is an "Oh My!!" or two from Takai. |

The there is nothing that will down you bog like explaining science to a Hog Like wise any inference Of diameter to circumference Though your scope of thought may be very big You are still just talking to a pig. Though a robot on Mars is quite a feat A swine just cares for veg and meat. |

05 Aug 12 - 02:06 PM (#3386503) Subject: RE: BS: Mars landing: Shatner vs Wheaton From: gnu Agreed, JtS. Shatner is far superior. Wheaton sounds like an excited little kid. No dramatic effect... just overemphasis on top of overemphasis. He's a hack in comparison and literally crushed by Shatner's rendition. Besides, he cheats and he's nasty to Sheldon. |

I'll be hanging in come landing time. Of course, you can never tell what kind of reception committee will be there to welcome Curiousity. CLICKY. Don Firth |

Pretty happy bunch there at mission control. A lot of hugging and back-slapping going on. (Hey! Maybe we'll get a look at Dejah Thoris!!) Don Firth |

Well lookee here, I'm casting a shadow on the ground in Mars' Gale crater #MSL pic.twitter.com/cj1zFJty. :-D Don, among the first pictures shared on Facebook last night, one was a great photoshop job (I'm pretty sure!) of one of the new pictures that had the Alien alien in it. Another one (but using an older Mars image) had Marvin the Martian peaking in the frame. This morning's XKCD comic was good for me and my husband: clicky. ~ Becky in Tucson |

06 Aug 12 - 08:01 PM (#3386957) Subject: RE: BS: Mars landing: Shatner vs Wheaton From: Bill D "Ten thousand times a hundred thousand dusty years ago, Where now extends the Plain of Gold did once my river flow. It stroked the stones and spoke in tongues and splashed against my face, Till ages rolled &the sun shone cold on this unholy place. So many stars bedeck my skies where once there were but few, But oh, to know again the clouds that hid them from my view. My ochred cliffs and rusted sands stand regal and serene, But oh, my wan and wasted world, I miss your blue and green. But it's just the weight of waiting, not a deathwatch o'er a friend; Tomorrow has a starting as does yesterday an end. For the water of my river and the air that was my wind, Though bound in rocks and wint'ry wastes, I pray may flow again." ... Jonathon Eberhart It was a genuine joy to hear Jon sing this in person several times.... and all thru the program, I was 'seeing' him at JPL, watching and asking questions. |

In the pictures you can clearly see that it landed on some sort of feline animal. Yes, they're nearly certain that Curiosity killed the cat. |
