Ya can't make this stuff up.

I dunno whether to laugh or cry.

"Ramz, the Desert Fox, a new reality in Egypt, is like an insane version of Punk'd, with Ashton Kutcher. Egyptian celebrities are lured onto tourist buses, which are then intercepted by the comedian host and his crew posing as armed terrorists.

The unsuspecting celebrity is blindfolded, and persuaded he or she is being kidnapped. To learn more about this comedy of terrors, we reached Cairo-based journalist Ashraf Khalil."

And there's more. It will be covered on CBC Radio 1 later today.

I had an interesting trip to Egypt in May, but I was uneasy the whole time. Wherever you go, you have the feeling that something is likely to happen. Maybe odd humor like this is one way of dealing with that uneasiness.

I dislike all of the "punked" shows. Even hidden camera shows put me off although Just for Laughs Gags (CBC) is worth the watch most of the time just for it's sheer inventiveness. When people are put in awkward situations, especially situations in which they are treated rudely to obtain a reaction, I am immediately turned off. When such is done a senior I root for the senior to smack them.
