BS: Swift Boaters Back

Well, well, well...

Seems that a few retired Special Forces vets, who had no involvement in the operation that killed Osama bin Laden, are on ______________ payroll (Rove, Kochs, ???) and pulling a page out of the 2004 election and going after Obama for one of his biggest successes...

Guess that the "birther" movement wasn't gaining traction so Plan B???

And the fact that the leaders of OPSEC have ties to the Republican party and the Tea Party movement is just a coincidence, I suppose.

Will someone please show me a transcript of where Obama took personal credit for the death of Bin Laden? All I've ever heard him say is that he gave the order. As in a proper chain of command. As Commander-in-chief.

Ah, Jeez, Wes- you want facts? TeaPublicans don't deal in or have any use for facts.

A good commander takes responsibility for the failures in his or her chain of command, and pushes the praise down to the level where it belongs - which is exactly what Mr. Obama did. A couple of good discussions of this on Politifact, here and here.

The ex-SEAL behind this was on CNN last week. Even though the organization *literally shares an office with the Romney campaign*, he denied flatly that he had any significant connection to the Republican Party (except for once running for Congress as a Republican).

The GOP office told CNN that OPSEC (the organization) "has a desk here," but that they're completely independent.

What's more, the interviewed SEAL answered most questions with a sneer or a loaded counter-question. (Obviously he'd been practicing.) He claimed, with no evidence, that Obama has leaked more "secrets" to America's enemies than any President in history, and jeopardizes national security and the lives of our military.

Obama got Bin Laden?

You didn't do that. Someone else made that happen.

"Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

" After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body." President Obama

Oh. Sawzaw, you mean he actually said: After a firefight, I killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

You are right then. The nerve of the President.

One comment after the article said: "(The Swift Boat charges against Kerry) were never refuted."

Practically the same charges were made against Murtha. I don't believe in making war to convince anybody about anything but the idea, the practice, of leveling such charges against authentic war heroes is revolting in the extreme.

And failing to jump in solidly in concert with the dismayed is even more revolting.

All the GOP/candidates/Congress needs to do is print and disseminate what the President actually said; that should be sufficient to shut them up. Plus it would restore some honor amongst them.

The author of this cheap stunt memoir has been denounced by his fellow seals. One quote reported was "He will never stand in our circle again."
This book will likely get no traction and go nowhere.

It is tragic that a term is used in an abusive manner that is very insulting.

What is much more tragic, Mary, is that these members or former members of the military which you worship lower themselves to be involved in these lies and bullshit. THGE are also the ones that chose the name for their bullshit organization.

Get over it.

Actually, it is extremely disrespectful for a vet to trash the Commander-in-Chief and disrespects the military as well... I heard a high ranking officer make that statement...

Dang Bobert, You didn't let that interfere with your hate campaign when GWB was POTUS. Paybacks are hell ain't they?

Ahhhhhhhhhh, Now 10 ICE agents are breakin' bad on the chest beater in chief.

LA Times:

WASHINGTON — A small group of immigration agents is suing the Obama administration, saying that the agents should not be required to implement a program to grant work permits and halt the deportation of some young illegal immigrants.

The lawsuit alleges that the program, as well as directives issued last year that require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to use broader discretion in immigration cases, violates a 1996 federal law that requires federal agents to put into deportation proceedings those who entered the country unlawfully.

Filed by 10 ICE officers and agents on Thursday in federal court in Dallas, the lawsuit alleges that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and ICE Director John Morton have caused harm by issuing directives that the agents say forces them to violate their oaths of office.

Starting Aug. 15, young undocumented immigrants have been able to file for a two-year waiver of deportation and a work permit under a new DHS policy called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Applicants must be under the age of 31 and have arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16, among other requirements. Immigrants who meet the criteria but are already in deportation proceedings can apply to have their removal halted as well.

Those waivers have been around for many many years, certainly for the last two Republican Presidencies. President Obama has simply increase the number of people eligible. Perhaps those 10 ICE agents should have to take an exam to prove that they know enough to do their jobs.

Mudcatter during the Bush Era:

You okay with POTUS being able to revoke your habeus corpus rights and have a "military tribunal" sentence you to death based on some allegation made by an old buddy of yours as he was being tortured in Bulgaria?

Same shit different president.

But now you can get Predatored with no Miranda rights read to you first.

No trial, no reports to file.

I noticed that President Carter took the heat for that failed raid to free the hostages. You can't have it both ways, Sawzaw.

If there hadn't been that sandstorm, Carter might have looked pretty darn good.

Oh, well, all part of the cosmic plan. Maybe if he'd saved the hostages, something really, really bad would have happened. Like Iran would have tried to build an A-bomb.

A Navy Seal doesn't break the code. A Navy Seal regardless of his politics takes orders from the commander and chief. A Navy Seal does not do what this guy did nor engage in politics. His duty, his code transcends the politics. He is a disgrace and he dishonors the uniform period..

Obama killed Bin Ladin just as much as Lincoln won the Civil War or George H. W. Bush liberated Kuwait. That is, as Commander-In-Chief it was done under his command.

Live with it.

Old dude is correct, and I would go further: this person should be prosecuted for revealing things best kept secret and for violation of service regulations.

For the record: Obama has never said that he killed bin Laden and in every instance has gone out of of his way to heap praise on the military...

But lets not let facts get in the way...
