All prejudice apart (she's a friend of ours), I strongly recommend Aine Ui Cheallaigh's workshop on the Saturday morning. I sat in on two she ran at the Feakle festival this year and enjoyed them hugely. She knows the traditions (both Irish language and English) intimately, is a qualified music teacher and a wonderful singer with vast experience and repertoire...

Have to miss it this year, unfortunately. Will be in Cadiz for a conference/holiday over that weekend. Coincidentally, I was in the same general area (Granada) the week Frank died. I remember sitting in an Internet cafe late at night trying to keep up with the sad news.

Enjoy.

A walking tour of Georgian Dublin! Aargh! Even if I should win win the lottery between now and then I still have a client to defend, and I can't go, dammit! If you are lucky enough to have the chance to go, don't miss it.

This goes from strength to strength. Lovely witty talk by John Moulden, and a brilliant Grand Concert in the evening. Really looking forward to the "singing and walking" tour through the centre of Dublin this morning and the farewell session in the afternoon.

p.s. more than a handful of Mudcat scattered around, of course!

Hello, Kevin. I'll start a thread called Tune Add: Wild Flower of the Laune. Then I'll send the MIDI to Joe Offer for posting to that thread.

The last two MIDI's I submitted never showed up, so if this doesn't work, we'll think of something else.

I'm glad to hear somebody is interested in this lovely melody.

Thanks to everyone involved in organising such an amazing weekend; the singarounds were just magic, and the Saturday night concert was brilliant. But the real highlight for me was the walking tour on Sunday morning - a real Dublin saunter. Well done to all the singers and speakers, and especially to Frank Nugent for his commentary and for shepherding such a large crowd of us through the busy streets. But what a star Siobhan Harte was at singing "Cockles and Mussels"!

It was great to meet Martin and Fergus at last as well.

Matthew

Fortunately, after last year's drenching in Glasnevin Cemetery, our luck returned and we had pleasant walking conditions on the Sunday morning. Even the football supporters passing in waves as they headed for Croke Park didn't disrupt proceedings! Of course - these were GAA folk, not soccer....

Exit stage left...

Now safely back home in Donegal after an interesting weekend! Thanks to the organisers who did a great job and were very welcoming. I'm sorry that more pressing matters prevented my fully participating in Sunday afternoon's sinagaround but I explained that Donegal people in general, blow-ins like myself as well as those who can trace beck generations, were likely to concentrate on the All-Ireland foootball final(for British, like the FA Cup Final, for Americans, like the Superbowl.
Thanks also to all those who said they had enjoyed my presentation; it was fun to give it!

What a great weekend! Great Goilin night on Friday (huge crowd) with excellent workshop from Aine Ui Cheallaigh Saturday morning. John Moulden's talk was very well done as expected. Then a good singaround Saturday afternoon, and evening meal for €5.00! The concert on Saturday night was superb, not a bum note anywhere. All performances were great. Then the "Dublin Saunter" organised by Frank Nugent was the piece de resistance with information and songs dispensed at every stop. Brilliant all over! Thanks to the organising committee. I'll be back next year.

Fabulous weekend, loads of highlights. Wee Siobhan standing a-top the tart wi the cart belting out Molly Malone - not a worry on her! Oor Siobhan (Miller)singing up a storm. Mouldy's talk (still singing Jimmy's winning matches) and Frank Nugent who took us sauntering round Dublin. Loads of songs and ballads and laughs. And as for that Fergus and his Fifty Shades of Grey...... all I can say was it was a miracle that I had any breath left to sing with! Pure magic so it was. A huge thank you to all at An Goilin who work so hard to make this a cracker of a weekend. It gets better every year! Heres to the next one!

I have to say I think this one was the best yet. I know we always say that, but I really feel it was. The fact it didn't rain on the walk helped a great deal. Which reminds me, my Dublin brolly is still in Club na Múinteoirí....I must retrieve it today. I thought Near FM did a great job , but I've yet to hear any of the recordings.

Hope there is a DVD, Mick Dunne usually provides one of the walk, so I'll have to be nice to him. If Frank Nugent is logging in, thanks again for Sat nt/Sun morn bed & board. If you have any spare programmes of the walk left I'd love one as I seem to have lost mine.
All in all a mighty weekend, and it was great meet my old friend Mai Hernon again too!

Thanks very much to all the organisers of this great festival - will be hard to top it. Glorious singing and songs - great fun - new voices - plenty of young people (I used to be one of the youngest ha!), Jimmy winning matches, 50 shades, etc..... The walk was brilliant, I was exhausted after it, but it was well worth it. Mick has started to upload some videos onto Youtube and Facebook, and there's loads of photos there too. For those not on FB, here's the video of young Siobhán (Harte) singing Molly Malone.
