Gaitas de Fora -Portuguese & Irish radio

Hi,

We have already posted on the session.org, but I think it will be worthewhile to post here too.

Gaitas de Fora (which, more or less, means 'pipes from abroad' in Portuguese) is/will be a radio program and subsequent podcast which will air on a very small and very local Portuguese radio station in a town called Torre de Moncorvo. The idea behind the program was to play a mixture of local/Portuguese traditional music and Irish music with perhaps some other music from around the world thrown in. While still very much in an embryonic stage (the first program will air this Thursday), our idea is to try and engage with some local musicians and Irish/other ones too.

So, what I am asking is this; If you play music, solo or in a group, and you would like some exposure (however small that may be!), you could get in touch with us and if you have a nice recording we would gladly play it and give you some exposure on our blog (http://gaitasdefora.wordpress.com/). And, just to say, no ones making any money from this, we just want to make a nice program that engages with musicians!

That's the proposal, but if anyone has any ideas, or questions we would love to hear from you. Unfortunately, the blog is only in Portuguese but maybe in the future will will start posting in English too....

Anyway, we hope to hear from you soon.

You can get in contact through the blog or by gaitasdefora@gmail(dot)com

I don't have a band, but best of luck with your new venture.

My browser (Chrome) has a big "Translate?" button that does a good job. You should consider a bi-lingual message sooner rather than later if you want to draw in a larger audience. Use keywords in English and Portuguese so Google finds it. And create some category tags and link each blog to them so they don't show up as "uncategorized." Anything like this will bring more eyes to the blog.

There is a broken link on the August 20 entry.

It looks good and it's a nice idea. In the translation I see the title translates as "Harmonicas Out."

All good ideas, thanks for the tips. Its all done in the small free time we have, which is why I havenĀ“t gotten around to translating it yet. But I think the lanuguage of the actual program is more or less irrelevant as we want to just play some good tunes.

And i assure you its not a anti-harmonica group!
