When a human dies in Space and the body is left to float forever then it is not true to say 'Earth to... etc.,

In that situation I would say "we commit his body to the deep" or "to the elements", leave out "earth to earth" and go straight to "ashes to ashes, dust to dust". There is plenty of interstellar matter which is rightly called dust, and which plenty which can , in a manner of speaking, be called "ashes" being the remnants of long-dead stars.

Say what? How about just "Dead's Dead-So long Fred"

About the time I think we've exhausted all the BS topics, something like this pops up.....and I'm sure of it. Oh well, I look forward to reading the Philobabble on this one.

So if you're driving along at the speed of light, can you see your headlights?

How's about into the Universe we drive your hearse?

And, would it really turn to ashes or dust? Wouldn't it just float on forever and ever, in a kind of joke on the eternal life thing? And, does anybody still use this in a service, anyway?

Philobabble eno'w fer ya, 'Spaw?*G*

This thread has reminded me of the rhyme:

Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
If God won't have him
The devil must.

I heard a story once about a family who lived next to a cemetery. One day the mother saw the children playing "funerals" with a couple of dolls. They'd mad a hole in the garden and the young boy, acting the part of the preacher, said, "In the name of the father and son in the hole he goes".

You could always substitute "matter to matter."

Spaw, of course you would see your headlights, 'cause they'd be tooling along at the speed of light too. The space cop hiding behind the asteroid up there on the left would pick your ship up on his speed detection sensors as going 186,000 miles per sec, but the light from your headlights would be going 372,000 mi/sec.
