mixed acoustic session in Knaresborough

From next Monday (10th Sept)there will be a new singaround/session in the George and Dragon, Knaresborough run by Ian Wallace from 8.30pm.

Ian has been running the rock jam in Knaresborough for a couple of years and that has now moved from the George to the Market Tavern on Thursday nights. Although primarily a rock musician, Ian is a very good acoustic guitarist and sings material from the contemporary folk scene - S&G/Neil Young/ Dylan etc.

Anything will be welcome at the session so those who turn up to the first few will probably drive what the thing ends up like. I am going myself and hope to see a few folkies from the local scene there.

There is no separate room so we will be singing in the bar.

Roger

The pub is on gracious street about 300 metres from the bus station. Gracious street runs at right angles to the high street, turn at the traffic lights adjacent to the Board Inn, Sainsburys and the bus station.

There now seems to be some doubt as to whether the landlady is ready for us to start this coming Monday but I will post again here when I hear definitely one way or the other.

You certainly can Mick. You may know Mel the landlady as she used to run the Oddfellows in Beverley where you have been known to open your throat a time or two.

The starting date is now October 1st at 8pm. I will not be able to make that one as I am committed elsewhere. However, I will be there for Oct 8th and will be running the one on the 15th.

Ian will run the first two and then two in each month, I will run one a month and a.n.other (probably Emma)with run the fourth one each month.

So, those that can turn up for Oct 1st, please do so to suport Ian in this venture. I hope to see you too for the one that I'm running on the 15th Oct.

Cheers

Roger

The first two sessions were pretty quiet with about half a dozen people strumming guitars and singing mainly pop songs. However, I am running it this coming Monday and it would be good to see some singers and musicians come to help me out.

A good session last night, run by Ian. We had about a dozen players/singers including mandolin, mandola, banjo, fiddle and several guitars.

I will be running it this coming monday (26th) and it is also my birthday!

All welcome
