19 Sep 12 - 04:27 AM (#3407181) Subject: BS: Alaska Mike From: Alaska Mike Hello Mudcatters. It's been awhile since I last posted to the forum. I'm retired from my 9-5 job in Alaska and now living in southwest Florida. I've been performing at festivals, song circles and open mics down here and I'm enjoying life very much. Retirement has been very busy with new friends, new hobbies, and working around the new house. I've got a Facebook site at https://www.facebook.com/mike.campbell.773981?ref=profile and use that to keep in touch with most of my friends and family. Sorry to say I have neglected my Mudcat friends for too long. I will endeaver to do better. So this post is to let you know that I am back. Mike |

19 Sep 12 - 10:18 AM (#3407317) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Alaska Mike Tawmmie and I bought a home in North Port, Florida. It is 90 minutes south of Tampa in Sarasota County. We built a fish pond, but a crazy river otter is systematically eating all our fish. We built a chicken pen, but a crazy bobcat keeps finding a way in for a fresh chicken dinner. Maybe I'm the crazy one for opening the local wildlife feeding station. |

19 Sep 12 - 11:08 AM (#3407329) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Amos Howdy, Mike! Why not make it to the Getaway? A |
19 Sep 12 - 12:23 PM (#3407365) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Alaska Mike Combination of reasons, Amos. The participation fee for the Getaway is a little steep for our budget on top of the travel costs, and we are attending my nephews wedding that same weekend. There always seems to be many different events going on each weekend, so we have to pick and choose. We'll make it back there one of these years. Mike |

19 Sep 12 - 06:23 PM (#3407459) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: gnu Hog huntin? Sounds like ye gunners oughta be taken care of the cute and fuzzy otter first. Now... YO BIG MIKE! What do we call you now? Big Alaska Mike that turned pussy and went to Florida? Florida Mike? It don't seem right. But, whatever tunes you put out from yer new digs will be great. I got 3 of yer CDs (I think) and they are excellent. I hope the warm climate doesn't affect yer talent. In any case, it's good to hear from you again. |
19 Sep 12 - 06:57 PM (#3407466) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Alaska Mike Thanks gnu. I'm writing new songs that are inspired by our new digs, but I think I'll maintain the "Alaska Mike" handle. I'm too set in my ways, and nobody would ever remember me if I changed it. Mike |
19 Sep 12 - 08:20 PM (#3407492) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Janie Very glad to hear from you Mike! Sounds like ya'll are happy in Florida. Sorry no Getaway in the cards for you this year, but maybe next? All the best to you and to Tawmie (sorry if I have forgotten how to spell that.) |
19 Sep 12 - 09:46 PM (#3407529) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: gnu BTW... fer any newcomers to this here Mudcat Café, we damn near lost the big man some years ago. That was some SERIOUS scarey shit. Every time I play one of his CDs in my truck I remember it. There was a long tread on all that... I wonder if I can find it? Seems to me Seamus started it... brb... Found it! Ahhhh... thanks fer not dyin big guy. That woulda been a bummer on accounta I really appreciate yer tunes eh. |

Have just had a great visit from John Lilly and we've sent him on his way up to Robin and Belle! Wish you were here too, but glad you and Tawmmie are loving the retired life in FL! KT |

21 Sep 12 - 07:58 PM (#3408476) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Gorgeous Gary Hi Mike! Great to hear from you. There's definitely a song somewhere in that tale of the fish pond and otter and the chicken coop and bobcat. I'm also tempted to suggest just aiming the bobcat at the otter and going Fishin' for Chickens (*grin*). And I'm sure the Carhartts will come in just as useful in a hurricane as they would in a blizzard... -- Gary |
21 Sep 12 - 11:38 PM (#3408546) Subject: RE: BS: report from Alaska Mike From: Charley Noble Mike- We'll just have to migrate to Florida. If the eagles and ospreys can do, why can't we? Actually one of Roll & Go's members winters in the infamous Villages. I should connect the two of you. Charley Noble |
