if these stats are right, O should be given credit. With Romney, you'll see joblessness rates soar, why, because he doesn't care about the American working man and woman. O might get the rate down further.

This is just an October Suprise.

Expect many more in the next few weeks.

The number was invented by government operatives to get Obama across the finish line.

To drop the unemployment by 0.4% would require at least 1 million new jobs.

We had 114 thousand new jobs last month.

Do the math.

It's bullshit.

I hope that it's not because people have given up looking for work and their benefits have run out. A real decrease in unemployment would be wonderful.

This is a last minute dirty trick directly from the office of Hilda Solis, another member of Obama's class of convicted tax cheats.

pdq-

You are a skeptical one! Yes, I partially agree with you but not the conspiracy part. The only way I can see that the unemployment number could drop so significantly with that modest increase in jobs is if a substantial number of people got discouraged and left the labor force.

Still, it's not the kind of number Romney supporters were hoping to trumpet. Too bad for your side...

Why?

For instance, why do some members of a family scatter far and wide while other members of the same family spend their lives within 15 miles of where they were born?

Why do some people in a family devoutly adhere to the religion they were taught in the cradle while other members of the same family proclaim themselves atheist?

(Along that same line, why do some people announce that their lord is satan- why would they cling to #2? :)

Why do some people cling to a political figure when they already know his/her penchant for falsifying facts and figures and that his/her opinion as given today may well be the opposite tomorrow? When they have already been given absolute proof that there is no real conviction there, that that politician changes his coat as easily as a summer day slides into autumn? It is as if they would consider it as some kind of betrayal if they were to intimate any uneasiness with their choice, notwithstanding that they know that their clay-footed hero has never heard of them, never will and will never be aware of their apostasy.

If it wasn't Obama they were hating it would be some other Democrat in his place. In any case, Bobert, you come across the same way as a Romney-hater, so why complain about the yoyos on the other side for acting the way you do? ;-) It's an equal opportunity system. Kind of like a sports event. You Looooove the home team and Haaaaate the visiting team! That's how it's set up. That's how it works. I've been watching it unfold that way ever since I was 10 years old.

I still remember the kids in school back when Kennedy was running against Nixon...the first election that really registered on my young mind. They all just parroted their parents, so they either hated Kennedy...and made fun of how his head was square and his Boston accent and the fact that he was Catholic...or they hated Nixon...and made fun of how his head was round and then went in and then was round again (like the number 8) and he had a ski jump nose too! ;-) Really mature stuff, yessiree!

If the weather was this predictable, we wouldn't need the weatherman at all.

Appearing on Saturday morning's edition of Up with Chris Hayes , Joseph Stiglitz took on jobs "truthers."

The Columbia University professor and Nobel Laureate in Economics explained the absurdity of former GE CEO Jack Welch's assertion that the Obama administration cooked the books on yesterday's jobs numbers in order to gain in the upcoming presidential election.

"Let me give you a story that illustrates why it's so implausible. Back when President Clinton was running for his second term, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Affairs that comes up with the GDP number were changing the way we measure GDP growth, okay? And they were going to something that is a technical term called chained-weighted GDP. And the result of going to chain-weighted GDP was that the GDP number would be lower than the old methodology.

The President was furious because everyone thought they were coming up with a number that was lower. He said, 'Can't you stop this? Can't you wait until after the election?' We said, 'No, they're an independent agency. We can't touch them.'

…but the point is no president –except maybe Nixon– would try to change what the Bureau of Labor Statistics does or what the BEA does. These are really independent statistical agencies. The idea that they would do that is …literally absurd."
