John is probably best remembered by many from his years with the folk bands McGinty and Miller's Jug. John "Fergie" mastered several instruments including fiddle and guitar, but his talent really shone when he played old fiddle and bagpipe tunes on his bouzouki. He was also a great singer and a fine solo performer. He was to play tonight in a Celtic Colours concert with his pal Buddy MacDonald, and the Makem&Spain brothers. I believe that the show will go on in tribute to him. My deepest sympathy to his wife Lois and their children and also to Buddy MacDonald, Roger Stone, Donnie Campbell, Donnie Moore and all others who shared the stage with him for so many years! RIP John! John Ferguson CBC |
