Subject: Dunton Folk - Tim Edey Concert - 15th Dec 2012
From: Craft Advisory (duplicate)

Dunton Folk is very excited to present a Christmas Celtic concert from Tim Edey

At just 32 years old, Tim Edey is the current BBC Radio Two Folk Musician of the Year and one half of the Best Duo 2012 award with harmonica guru Brendan Power.

Hailing from Broadstairs in Kent, Tim has played, toured and recorded both on record and TV with quite literally a who's who of the Celtic and acoustic music scene. On the road worldwide since he was fifteen years old, Tim's earliest gigs were with his guitarist father and Irish singer Enda McCabe. He then joined guitar master Ed Boyd's (Flook) band Red Ciel at the age of sixteen, and toured UK and Scandinavia as a box player with them. He recorded his debut album at the age of seventeen, in Ireland, with his guru and legendary musician Steve Cooney producing.

His subsequent musical activities include playing with Anam, The Sharon Shannon Band, Lunasa, Julie Fowlis band, Session A9, Michael McGoldrick Band and Wolfstone, guesting and recording with JP Cormier and the legendary Barra MacNeils in Canada, guesting with Altan in Europe, Mary Black (RTE TV), playing with various Flook members, Magic of the Dance and a highly successful teaming with Seamus Begley Ireland's accordion king resulting in an album "Disgrace Notes", recording in 2011 on the new releases by Christy Moore "Folk Tale" and The Chieftains "Voice of ages", and being probably the first Anglo-born musician to feature on a Christy Moore album!

Tim is guitarist for the Chieftains European concerts this year, starting in June in the UK.

Tim's compositions have been often recorded by others in the folk scene, notably the piece "Little Bird", which he wrote for Sharon Shannon. This was featured on her double platinum album "The Collection" in 2005, and also on Irish TV, when Tim was featured in the popular RTE ONE series "The reel deal". His tune Celtic Thunder is now a daily played session tune in Scotland amongst the younger feis scene, and was recorded by Capercaillie's Charlie McKerron and Session A9.

Tim's own solo albums (of which there are five) have been popular in Ireland and the UK as well as Europe. Touring in Austria to standing ovations with his Collective trio in 2011 was one career highlight, another was playing the legendary Celtic Colours festival in Canada in 2011 - where he also recorded a duo album with multi-award winning Canadian artist JP Cormier (due out late 2012).

Playing more than eight instruments to a virtuoso standard, Tim mainly uses the Melodeon and button accordeon and nylon strung guitar. He now also adds being a rather shy but fine voiced singer to the stage.

Tickets are £10 each and can be reserved in advance by e mailing duntonfolk@hotmail.co.uk or telephoning Simon (01767 310 424) or Andy (01767 316 124)

Subject: Dunton Folk - Lucy Ward Concert - 20th April 2013
From: GUEST,Dunton Folk

Lucy Ward is an award winning 23 year old acoustic artist from Derby. She plays guitar, ukulele and concertina but considers her voice to be her first instrument.

After winning the Horizon Award for best newcomer at the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Lucy's career has gone from strength to strength establishing herself as one of the hottest performers on the UK Folk scene, pulling a full capacity audience on her Cambridge Folk Festival debut. Recently, her name has appeared on the big screen - she wrote and performed the soundtrack for a new documentary film called Folie a Deux (directed by Kim Hopkins) which premiered in Amsterdam in November 2012.

Her debut album "Adelphi Has To Fly" was released in June 2011 by Navigator Records and was met with widespread critical acclaim both nationally and further afield. She was named by MOJO as 'Britfolk's most vibrant and forthright new young talent' and attracted four star reviews from The Guardian and Maverick Magazine among others.

"Lucy, is a breath taking presence on stage. Her unpretentious outlook and warmth melts the hearts of audiences. Her disarming personality, pitch perfect delivery and the maturity of her songs can reduce an audience to tears, but a Lucy Ward set will always send you away feeling uplifted." Shrewsbury Folk Festival (2011)

After getting her first guitar at the age of 14, Lucy ventured into acoustic clubs, it was there that she first heard the traditional music that she now loves. Captured by the lyrics and stories of traditional song Lucy delved further into the world of folk music, visiting clubs and sessions up and down the country before getting booked to play gigs in her own right. In 2009 Lucy reached the final of the BBC Young Folk Award and she hasn't looked back since!

Tickets are £10 each (Unaccompanied Under 16s free) and can be reserved in advance by e mailing duntonfolk@hotmail.co.uk or telephoning Simon (01767 310 424) or Andy (01767 316 124)
