There is a song from a 1973 anthology of folk music for children called Peter McCreep. It was on LP when I was in gradeschool and I want to sing it for my kids but I remember about all of two lines. Unbelievably, turned up nearly nothing with web search for this one!

Can anyone help me out with lyrics?

If you are the original poster, it would possibly be helpful were you to post the lines you recall.

The song is here: https://youtu.be/YrlJPM3N6mI?t=92, and here's my transcription.

PETER McCREEP
(Jill Margot Wisoff, 1972)

On Halloween night, all the town was asleep,
Except for one small boy named Peter McCreep.
He was awake 'cause he had a bad cold,
So he watched from his window the street far below.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.

Well, it couldn't have been twelve o'clock that night,
When right down the street danced this ghastly sight
Of weird-looking things holding lanterns ablaze,
Singing 'bout all of the trouble they'd made.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.

Well, the black cats were screaming, the witches were singing (?),
The hobgoblins danced and the pumpkin heads pranced;
Peter McCreep at his window above,
Had to cover his ears from that dreadful hubbub.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.
On Halloween, Halloween night, Peter McCreep was awake.

Well, the roosters (?) go down all around the town,
The hobgoblins dived into holes in the ground,
Who saw the black cats and witches flew home (???)
For the pumpkin heads left out on doorsteps alone.
So Peter, Peter McCreep Went straight into bed and to sleep.
So Peter, Peter McCreep Went straight into bed and to sleep.

Well, that's a start. Can anybody fix what's wrong with this? Thanks to Sylvia for finding the recording. When we work together on this stuff, we do pretty darn well.
