29 Oct 99 - 12:18 AM (#129305) Subject: RE: Happy Birthday, Folk-Legacy! From: Sandy Paton Thanks to all of you. On the actual day, Caroline and I will be joining Becca and Jenny, plus other members of the Golden Ring and the New Golden Ring (Ed Trickett, Joe Hickerson, Howie Mitchell, et al) to sing our love and farewell to Gerry Armstrong in Chicago. George and Gerry used to call us every October 31st, and, with George's bagpipes playing in the background, wish Folk-Legacy a happy birthday. It was a thoughtful and deeply appreciated tradition. Thank you, Karen. And thanks again to all the rest of you. Sandy |

29 Oct 99 - 01:02 PM (#129504) Subject: RE: Happy Birthday, Folk-Legacy! From: Liam's Brother As a young immigrant, I had my first real jobs at the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York. By day, I was a beefeater at the Tower of London exhibit guarding rhinestone copies of the Queen's baubles. At night, I was a janitor at the Swedish Pavillion. It is true, I saw both sides of life everday. I made an incredible amount of money for the time and invested a significant portion of it in those sternly black covered lps of Paddy Tunney, Harry Cox and Lawrence Older... just to mention a few. I loved those old records and, although we're separated by miles with no turntable at their repository, I still grab a few every now and then and bring them home for a spin. I'm happy and honored to have had my name join those names in your catalogue but I'm happiest of all to have known you these many years. Sandy, Caroline, Lee and Rob... Congratulations and may you have 38 more and 38 more again!
All the best, |

29 Oct 99 - 03:09 PM (#129564) Subject: RE: Happy Birthday, Folk-Legacy! From: Davey I first became aware of Folk Legacy when I ordered a tape by Bok, Muir & Trickett (who I had never heard, I took a chance after seeing a reference in Rise Up Singing).. I liked the tape so much that I immediately ordered 3 more, and when those arrived..... I now have many Folk Legacy recordings, and also fond memories of meeting Sandy and Caroline at The Woods Music & Dance Camp. Happy Birthday and keep 'em coming, and may you have many more successful years. I like your style. Davey... (:>) |

Jim Ringer's Hard Times and Jon Wilcox. Happy Birthday to the legendary legacy. If memory serves me, (hopefully) Didn't Sandy and Caroline thumb their way accross this great country to the Northeast to start this little record company? Sandy, you could share that story and set the record straight for us curious minded sorts. Mudjack |

From: Boarding Party (KC) Sandy, Caroline, Lee and Folk Legacy Folks - Bravo Zulu (Well done) followed closely by an Alpha Delta 28 (Splice the Main Brace). The world's a better, wetter place for all the many labors of love you've done for the preservation and enjoyment of the world's heritage of sea and water music. There would be gaping voids were it not for you. Some of those voids would be in my very soul. And all the other stuff ain't that bad neither. Love & Hugs form the Big Easy - a few fathoms from the Big Muddy and they keep asking me "What's that funny thing you got on your shoulder?" - KC |
