12+albums, numerous awards, TV and Film credits and an amazing banjo player. I am not alone in thinking he is one of our top singer/songwriter/historians and a genuinely good person.

"James P. Gannon former Wall Street Journal editor and author of "Irish Rebels, Confederate Tigers" writing about one of Jed songs said,

"Prayer from Little Round Top is the song one of the great Irish poets might have written had he marched to Gettysburg with Jeds Irish immigrant from Alabama. The melody seems to well up from some misty glen in Connemara, wrapping the soldiers sad story in a teardrop. It may mark me as a sentimental Irish man to say this, but if you can listen to this haunting song without finding your eyes moistening, then somewhere along lifes way, youve lost your soul."

Jed is known as a gifted singer, a unique and talented player and an accomplished songwriter. He is a warm and comfortable performer with a story to tell and gift for the telling.

"What sets Jed Marum apart from other Celtic/Folk artists is the performance concepts and delivery he brings to the stage the historical significance, poignancy and emotion that his songs evoke, in addition to being a great singer and a stellar player. Jed is one of my favorite performers."

- Betsy Cummings, Entertainment Director for the North Texas Irish Festival"

I've heard that Jed Marum fella, and by golly, if I were within a beagle's gowl of So. Portland, ME, I'd go see him.
He can pick the banjo and the guitar expertly (in different keys!) and sing songs like he knew what he was doing (in different keys too!).

Yessir, if you live anywhere near So. Portland, ME, go see this fella; you won't be disappointed.

(Was there really such a thing as "history" when you were in college?)

I'm starting to feel as though I might recover. I came down with a cold on Friday, and it's just now getting to the stage where I'm OK with being conscious. It should be cleared in plenty of time.

So...back to spiral ham and scalloped potatoes. LOL

No word from Jed's friends or the Civil War re-enactors.I was going to pull a Scarlett O'Hara and dress in the curtains but maybe not.

It's cold up here!! But I've been enjoying the visit. My Friday concert in Dover NH was canceled due to Fire Code violations for the brand new venue I was supposed to open! (long story) ... but that gave me a chance to visit a bit more with family, so it was a blessing in disguise!

I really enjoyed a pickin' party with old friends in MA on Wed night - then the radio show with Nick Noble on Thu - so it's been a grand trip so far!

I'll be heading down to Canton MA in a couple hours to play a concert at the Open Book Coffeehouse tonight - my old hometown. It's a treat to be there. I left that town when I 14 years old and I love to see the old place, and some of the old faces, too. I am looking forward to it.

THEN it's on to Portland ME. Life is Good!

.... But I still haven't had my steamers yet

Hey John! Jed mentioned you before I had a chance to say Hi. He was talking about previous concerts and remembered you and Nick Apollonio.
Great night and I was treated to a pre-concert when Kendall showed up early with Jacqui's guitar. I think Jed fell in love. He played it for his concert.
Lots of all songs - requests, lots of new songs, great banjo and guitar picking. Plus Jed is a genuine joy to have around.
Food must have been good - most of it was gone. We had a very attractive birthday cake for Jeri - Honest. Pure white with some red decoration. No glow in the dark purple and it tasted good too.
They all left for breakfast this morning around six. I am sadly taking Lizzie for a final vet visit. Her time has come. It is never easy to lose a friend.

Re Jacqui's guitar: Jed better not have left with it. If I could play it and walk away - and I did, just barely - he'd better be able to.

Re Lizzie: Been there, done that, several times. I feel what you're feeling. What more can one say?

Loved the concert. I wish more people had been there, but they don't know what they're missing!

Jacqui's guitar was still at SINSULL's when we all left. I can't believe I got up at 6 to go have breakfast... I got home, and it was still fairly early so I'm having more coffee. The diner was OK, and the coffee was reasonable when one is later going to have real coffee.

I'll miss Lizzie.

That guitar has a voice that I have never heard. Hearing Jed play it reminded me of that old country song,
"She never looked that good when she was with me."

Jed, you did a bang up job, as you always do.

It is sad to lose my Lizzie but she had an amazing life after being rescued at LaGuardia airport in a snowstorm. She had a long and healthy life which included a move to Maine and the great outdoors. My favorite Lizzie memory is of her babysitting duties when the ground hog at Red Bank went off and left her little ones with Aunt Lizzie who fussed over the babies and snarled at anyone who even looked sideways at them. Lizzie could be nasty when she wanted to be - bit me yesterday when she had enough of the vet's alcohol rub.
RIP beautiful kitty.
