Well as usual Whispering Krusby came over as a really nice lass, but!
Also as usual, she was too quiet, and I could hardly hear a word of the song she sang, her diction was poor Still have no idea what it was called, or what it was all about.

No John, don't be vague, don't minice your words, say what you really think, so much is gained in this place when people tell us what they really don't like

I did think it a shame that Kathryn Roberts didn't get a name check along with Eliza and Cara, after all it was that duo that got Kate going.

Kate Rusby on Myspace? Now there's a waste of space! Good riddance!"

I,ve been going to folk-clubs in the North-East for about thirty years and have seen some great performances from various well known and not so well known names. At some point I became involved with traditional music and made some lasting acquaintances with top class musicians. A natural progression was to write and perform my own guitar backed songs. I,m a kind person, but however many times I have listened, I have never understood a word of what KR is going on about. Lets face it, the so called duet with Ronan Keating was a cheap shot at making money from a gullible public and in my opinion, shows where this lasses priorities lie. Not for me thankyou.

                      ------------

I wrote that a year or two ago and I've seen nothing to change my opinion since.

People make music, other people listen to it. The listener either likes it or they don't. That's it. That's all their is.

The fact that others either like or don't like KR is irrelevant.

"I,m a kind person"

To be honest, you sound like a bitter and twisted one to me.

Here's a link for those of us who don't do Real Audio RAM files.

Lovely stuff, thanks to the GUEST OP for sharing.

I've obviously spent far too much time in t'north to be baffled by Kate's diction, accent, and singing voice, sounds just fine to me.

Here's a thing - listen to Kate talking - then find an interview with the actress Maxine Peake (a recent appearance on Front Row was what I heard) and play one after the other. Two peas in a vocal pod!

(Oops that probably means Maxine Peake will be forever hated on Mudcat now ... )

Maxine Peake is wonderful.

I'm from the North but I couldn't understand what she was singing about.
Someone praised Tony Hall ?? Womens Hour is hardly going to get a Male performer on board so it's nowt to do with getting Folk into mainstream.
