A call for an act of kindness

A call for an act of kindness.

My daughter, Maia, is pregnant with her first child. Because of a congenital heart problem she is confined to her bed during the pregnance. If the mother and baby can continue to remain healthy for the next three months, the baby will be taken with a "C" section. This is very scary for a new young mother. Her primary contact with the out side world is the Internet. If you wish to send an encouraging message, her Email address is: lapskuasgirl@aol.com.

It would be wonderful if she received a flood of "Best Wishes".

Maia lives in Kentucky. When she can work, she makes her living as a Horse (and people) Massage Therapist. Any interesting Internet sights would be enjoyable.

PS. Lapskuas is a Norwegian Potato Stew.

No problem, Lloyd. My daughter had to stay in bed for the last 19 weeks, while carrying her first, which was twins. I will send her best wishes and, if she wishes, we can continue as correspondents. My other daughter used to work with a horse massage therapist. They are special people, as far as I am concerned; course, she'd have to be, to be your daughter.

Be at ease, *gramps*:-)

Hello all, as I am writing these words I am listening to a folk group call Golden Bough I think it is from the states. I somtimes think about what the lives can be unfair, some of us are healthy and everything seems to go well, and some of us have some illness to fight through our live. Well my wife had no problem to give birth, but your doughter is going though a long and strong time. I hope that everthing will go well through all the pregnance time. May god be with you all and all the best from us here in Iceland. skarpi Iceland.

Dear lloyd,

As the mother of four, I know well that a normal pregnancy is a time of great excitement and great fear, and when there's even a tiny question of how things might turn out it can be very upsetting to the whole family. Don't worry, Grampa, everything will be as it should be. I'm sure all these great folks on the Mudcat will each be holding a good thought in their hearts for your daughter. She probably won't have time to read all the good wishes!!

Never doubt the power of prayer or the power of love.

Skarpi, have you ever looked at all the tyoing/spelling error I make!? I never proofread on here, don't worry about my friend. You honour us by writing in English.

Lloyd, I sent her a bunch of info and a few questions about what kind of websites she might be interested in. Talk to you later.

lloyd, I remember when a certain beloved cat was ill, some of us sent him tapes and cds along with our healing thoughts and wishes. Would Maia like music during her bedrest? I direct a women's chorus that specializes in positive, "healing" music and I'd love to send a tape.

I sent one last night Lloyd...and as the 'Catter Animaterra referred to above, let me tell you that the warmth and love that came from this place made a tremendous difference. Your daughter may also enjoy some of the music that Animaterra mentioned. I would suggest a place to send it to that would be "comfortable" to you...You're likely to be amazed at the response you get to that!!!! Let us know. Back in May when I damn near checked out, I was put to sleep many times when the pain killers didn't work by the music that came to me from this bunch.

I went to college at Berea in Kentucky and if your daughter is anywhere close, I can probably get you a forwarding source for mailed tapes and CD's there from an old friend who I just reconnected with after all these years...and it happened here on the 'Cat!!! Again, let me/us know.

NOI, Lloyd, it's written LAPSKAUS, and it's actually very good, a lot like Irish stew, only with salted pork instead of mutton.

I'll send her my best wishes now.

Excuse if I state the obvious but could this LAPSKAUS be the etymological pre-curser of Lobscouse which gave the inhabitants of Liverpool their alternate name of "Scousers" and is another Nautical expression strayed over from the "sea shanties and maritime folk stuff " thread? Forgive the thread creep? I have alredy written to Maia too, so its not all TC(as opposed, Which I am to excessive PC) best wishes to her and hers.
