13 Dec 12 - 04:11 PM (#3451496) Subject: RE: Video: Banjo Spirits From: Stringsinger What I was most intrigued with was Don Stover's banjo which was in a Golden Eagle case. Where can you get information on the Golden Eagle five string? They seem to have a warm sound, somewhat like a Vega but a little different and I've noted that some traditional banjo players seem to use one. I like the old Orpheums, too. Anyone know about this banjo? Stephen Wade did a good job. He is a protege of Fleming Brown, from Chicago, a wonderful banjo player and performer now gone. Fleming studied with Doc Hopkins who played at the National Barn Dance on WLS in Chicago. Trivia: WLS owned by Sears was the acronym for "World's Largest Store". |
