Hi All,
I will be traveling to Lyon, France with my son (18 yrs.) in the first week of April 2013. We will have some free time and I am hoping to find some folk music to either be audience to or participate in. A song circle might be a lot of fun, or a shantey sing. All tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Joyeux Noel, Margo.

Are you travelling direct to France?

Bon voyage!

jazz is the predominant musical paradigm in Lyon. I'll suggest some places if you like.

Henry P, We are going to be in Paris for part of the time, and I think at least five or six days in Lyon. I will have more free time in Lyon.

Last May I travelled to France with my 18 year son. Friends were playing at a Bal Folk in Chateauroux and we had a great night of music song and dance with loads of accordeons, cornemuses and hurdy gurdy.

It's probably safe to say folk carries a different meaning in France, non of your folk clubby 'singaround' stuff. And much nicer for it too.

Lovely place but steer clear of the "tete de veau"!!.
