I'd say these CD's are a lot more than "interesting"! They are essential listening, so good on Bradfordian for drawing attention to them. My current particular favourite among so many treats is the recent one by Roisin White 'With thanks/Le buiochas', which I see as being a sort of heartfelt tribute to some of the people who have passed their songs on to her.

It is well worth becoming a subscriber to Veteran; that way you get their new releases as soon as they come out with a 15% discount, and you can also get a 5% discount on CDs from other labels.

Glory be to the small labels that are producing good traditional folk CDs-Vetersn, Wildgoose, Springthyme, Musical Traditions, Sleepytoon,
Mooncrest being the ones that spring to mind first.
Without them, the folk music world would be a much poorer place.
BTW, CAMSCO carries 'em all.

Dick, Can I also add our label - Hallamshire Traditions to that list? We are only small but perfectly formed, with material by Gav Davenport, Ciaran Boyle, Richard and Jess Arrowsmith to mention some!

Wow! A gold mine! You can see all the lyrics, with notes.

Fantastic. Thanks, Bradfordian.

Nice one Tim, and no doubt there must be more!
I would hope that somehow, all these independant organisations could be made more accessible for future reference via Mudcat, rather than falling off the horizon, never to be seen again, well, at least headed up in our quick reference directory eh?

I would definitely recommend Ray's album - a real treasure trove of songs, well supported by the booklet which accompanies it.

Another album which really impressed me recently :
"Strange Lover is a Coalmine - The Mining Songs of Ed Pickford". What an inspirational writer !

Well, I think that the title of the thread which I created allows me to include this from Phil Edwards:

52 folk songs - Phil Edwards
A very interesting project Phil, well done (thus far)
