01 Nov 99 - 07:39 AM (#130344) Subject: Tom Rush - new compilation From: Stewie For those who may be interested but unaware of the fact, Sony has finally done justice to Tom Rush. 'The Very Best of Tom Rush: No Regrets' Columbia Legacy CD65860 is an excellent 17 track sampler covering Rush's 30-year career. The compilation is chosen by Rush and is drawn not only from Columbia, but also Prestige/Fantasy, Elektra and Night Light. The track listing is: San Francisco Bay Blues/Mobile Texas Line/Panama Ltd/On the Road Again/Galveston Flood/Joshua Gone Barbados/Urge for Going/No Regrets/Lost my Drivin' Wheel/Child's Song/Merrimac County/Kids These Days/Mother Earth/Ladies Love Outlaws/The Dreamer/Jamaica Say You Will/River Song (new). You can find out more at his website www.tomrush.com While I am at it, Guy Clark has a new one out 'Cold Dog Soup' Sugar Hill SUG-CD-1063, as has David Mallett 'Ambition' Flying Fish FF 674. I hope the above is of interest to some, cheers Stewie. |

01 Nov 99 - 09:19 AM (#130377) Subject: RE: Tom Rush - new compilation From: JedMarum Great to hear it. Tom Rush is one of my all time favorites. I tell my Texas friends this story, and they marvel at those yankees .... but I remember going to a concert at the Orpheum theatre in Boston, years ago when Linda Ronstadt was on the top of the charts with remakes of I've been cheated (When Will I be Loved) and You're no Good . Very successful days for Linda! Well Linda and her fine band opened the show, for Tom Rush! After Linda played a great show, full band, big studio sound, Tom Rush came out onto the stage, all by himself ... and brought the house down with a warm, dynamic show. He's the genuine article! |

Nice album -- been listening to it for a couple of weeks, after being reminded of TR by the Nanci Griffith "Other Voices, Other Rooms" version of "Galveston Flood". He appears on that album doing Ian Tyson's Summer Wages, if my memory serves. yours, Peter T. |
