I'm in trouble. I tried to read the reactions on my thread-Any Dutch, but I can only see the first two reactions. The other 5 reactions do not appear. Is there an experienced Mudcatter who can help me out?

there appears to be an HTML error partway down the thread. with any luck, one of the MudCat fixers with the special "edit" button will fix it for you. You might want to mention this in the "help" side of the forum -- click on "help" at the top of the page to reach it.

if your browser lets you see source code, you can pull the entire thread up that way, but it is h*ck to read

Hi, Will, I didn't have any problem getting them to come up on my computer. Here they are, as copied and pasted from your earlier thread:

Hi I'm from dutch extraction - my father being a dutch citizen now living in Northern Ireland. I think that counts!!

Don't know how it works here at the Mudcat, but I'll soon find out. ....from Venray, Holland. Dutch with a "zachte g".

Just found out this question. Heard it from Phillippa in Ireland via email, she's also a "Mudcatter".

I love Ireland and everything about and in it.

But why is it important?

slán,

Hi Kat! My browser did just what Will's did....so it may be something browser specific.

My grandparents on my dad's side were Dutch (names Westra and Mulder)-- from Gronigen (sp?). On my mom's side, my great-grandparents were Dutch. (Mulder and Wegter). I grew up in a Dutch Calvinist enclave in southwestern lower Michigan (Grand Rapids), where many Dutch immigrants settled in the early 1900s, mostly to do farming in the familiar rich, black lowland soil. My dad, a political science professor at Calvin College, had a Fulbright fellowship that took the family to Amsterdam for a year when I was two. I'm told I spoke fluent Dutch at the time. All that's left is "Dag!" and the words to various Sinterklaas songs. Kathy
