YAA = "Yorkshire Air Ambulance"

Correct. The clue was in the clicky.

Somebody's already suggested "Up,up and away in our beautiful yellow helicopter," but it doesn't scan too well.....   and what rhymes with helicopter?

Hi Tone,

Sounds interesting...

Have clicked on the link -- just got a page with a bunch of "GMX storage"logos on (and a message on the end of the auto-generated URL that says there's an "http401 error" -- which, according to Google, = "unauthorised". Might be a webpage that your machine is authorised to download -- perhaps you have a GMX account? -- but others' machines are not?)

I also tried Googling "yaa anthem writing competition"; got the same link to the same page with the same logos...

what rhymes with helicopter?
What about:

God save our YAA,
Long ambulate it may,
God save it, yea!
May He hold that helicopter
In His hands - oops, He has dropped her!
Now she rains over us!
God save the YAA!

Yea.... thanks for that. [Enter smilie of choice]

Probably a bit sick in the light of the recent helicopter accident at Vauxhall. That was an ex YAA pilot.

Maybe the lines:

Thank God he hasn't dropped her
Long may they hover over us
God save the YAA!?

....for the future?

Can you suggest a tune?

Tone   (saluting)

Ambulance workers have my full respect, in particular those who risk their lives or who work without adequate payment. But associations who want an anthem (as if to be bawled out by drunk Rugby fans to support their team) deserve some irony. The tune is of course "God save the Queen", some notes split in two to accomodate the desired "helicopter" rhyme. Have fun with your winning anthem nevertheless.

I note irony is totally lost on you.

Not really, Tone, but there are many readers here whom it may escape (from either side), and who may seriously believe that I am "a bit sick".

I don't think anyone would think that really.

Incidentally, the reason for creating an anthem is not about vast crowds of supporters chanting it in football stadia (Enter another smilie of choice).

We're hoping someone will come up with something that might give a hurt person confidence if they are waiting for the helimed team to turn up; something, if good enough, that might even feature on BBC's Helicopter Heroes or on their mobile app, and maybe also something that could be used by any helimed organisation.

A tall order perhaps. But folk song in action if it comes about?

PS I did know the tune of the national anthem. What a dirge! That's something else we should rewrite!

Peace

Tone
