On another site that quotes only the stanza you posted says the fellow 'used to sing it in the 1970s'. There is no attribution on either site.

I corrected the spelling of veins which was presented as viens. Other sites have the same typo so I figure someone copied someone. I'll keep looking . . .

Here's Jeff Duntemann's complete post from January 13, 2003. I think his transcription of the song is more accurate than the one 999 found originally. I learned the song from the songbook of "Search for Christian Maturity," a retreat program put on by the Catholic Youth Organization in the 1960s. I'm guessing the songbook was printed in about 1966. I think I have a copy of it around here somewhere, but I couldn't find it this afternoon. The songbook used a lot of songs from Sister Miriam Therese Winter and from the Up With People program, but I couldn't find the song by searching sites associated with them.

I was out digging around in the garage earlier this fall, when in a box of old papers I came across a song sheet from a Catholic high-school retreat I had attended as a senior in 1970, at Divine Word Seminary in Techny, Illinois. I had been searching for the words to a song called "Easy Come, Easy Go" for some time. After posting a query here in my November 19, 2000 entry, someone sent it to me in an email, and then I lost the email in one of my periodic purges. The song sort of defines The Sixties for me, back when church retreats were more hootenanny than theology, and I'd gladly buy a recording if I knew of one, since all I can do is remember unsteady teenage voices singing it in a drafty old red-brick seminary, not really understanding how completely young and carefree they were.

Well, I pulled the sheet out of the box, and there it was. And even though it was on a fragile and yellowing sheet of cheap pulp stock, it slapped down on my scanner and came in without a struggle, thanks to Fine Reader Sprint. So let me post it here. It's got a very nice melody, and if anyone knows its author, please drop me a note.

The singer is John Rodak. The name of his 1960's album is, "Just Passin' Through" by John and Patrick, Detroit, MI.

My Dad, Kevin Johansson, wrote this song!!! He wrote it back in the late 60's/early 70's when he was part of Young Christian Workers and it got incorporated into a small song book which we still have. He was searching for his song online the other day and told me about your post and asked me to answer it (he's no good at technology!)

I'd still like to verify that the songwriter name is Kevin Johannson, and I picked up somewhere that Johannson was from South Africa. I can almost read the back of the John & Patrick album cover here (click)

With my eyes I can just about make out the album title . . .

Hi everyone. Am glad you found my song. I wrote this song in 1968 while with the YCW movement. We were banned and disbanded in 1976. Great to see it is still being sung. Blessings

Kevin Johannson, is that you? Tell us more about the YCW Movement. Wikipedia says Young Christian Workers is still active in many countries. Were you in South Africa?

Do we have the correct lyrics, or can you supply corrections? I sang this song many times in the 1960s, and I really liked it.

Hi Guys. I am not very good at this here technology.
I was an area leader in South Africa with YCW. The organisation was banned in 1976 and I was arrested. We wrote many songs back then and they were incorporated into a song book. No one laid claims to them. So I do not know how or where they circulated. wwill pop back soon, will send you the correct words. It is almost correct except for a few minor changes.

John and my dad were best of friends for years. They sang together before my dad went in the Navy. I believe they were the Sabastian Singers doing the college circuit. John went through rough times in the 70s and 80s. Lived on East Grand Blvd in Detroit for years. We would pick him up for the weekends and and john was back to normal playing guitar and banjo with my dad. Sadly John passed away earlier this year while living in Southgate Michigan.
We still have the album which we transferred to CD several years ago.

In the 70s a family friend named John Rodak (sp) sang this song for us and said he had written it. I remember he said he used to be in a band. I wonder if he did now. My email is nakusea@yahoo.com

Up above in 2013, a Mudcatter named 999 posted this link: https://www.question.com/who-wrote-the-song-easy-come-easy-go-through-94432.html. On that page, a poster named "Robo" (Roland Owens)(Patrick of "John and Patrick"?) said the song was written by his singing partner, John Rodak, who died March 30, 2014. But another poster on that page says the song was written by his father, Kevin Johansson, wrote the song in South Africa in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
