Tech: Newbie guide to (home) studio recording

I find myself doing more and more stuff recording material for myself and others these days. At the moment I'm using Audacity and a couple of cheap microphones, but I'm getting to the point where I need something a bit cleverer.

What I really need is a "Recording for Dummies" book, except the few titles in this area I see on Amazon have very mixed reviews and I generally find that a very bad sign.

Hello, Rev. There have been many many threads on this topic. Perhaps someone who knows how will show you the way to those threads. (If I could I would.) Best wishes to you.

Though it's a few years old, this is probably the best thing you'll come across. It's a DVD, so you can see how it's done, and by someone who really knows how to do it.Roger McGuinn's Guide to Home Recording on a Computer
