March 2013 10.45 a.m.- 4.45 p.m. Elephant & Castle White Hill Lewes BN7 2DJ UK Tom's 'Northern swing fiddle' combines Scots/Donegal styles, with Newcastle hornpipes a speciality. He has a lovely flowing style, beautiful tone & faultless technique, & is a also a fine singer with a powerful yet mellow voice. He has played with Bob Fox, Kieran Halpin, his own band Dabhand, Alistair Anderson's Syncopace, Phil Cunningham, Barbara Dixon, Chris Newman & Pauline Cato. He's an inspiration for the new generation of musicians including Seth Lakeman & Kate Rusby. The workshop will cover the art of bowing & ornamentation used in the playing of simple jigs, reels & hornpipes. Some of Tom's own tunes will be included with the odd surprise. All will be inspired to play with love, confidence & passion, fun being paramount! Music will be sent out in advance.
