13 Feb 13 - 08:39 AM (#3479018) Subject: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Our monthly shanty, forebitter, and ballad song session will be happening this Saturday, February 16th, at The Press Room on Daniel St. in Portsmouth, NH from 3:30 to 7:30 PM -- and...good lord willing and the creek don't rise, Tom will be there this time! Looking forward to hearing of Ernie's adventures of last month, and also hope to meet some new people. The weather is predicted to stay fairly warm, sunny and breezy, which may help clear the Portsmouth streets and sidewalks of last weekend's snow. See you there! Linn |
13 Feb 13 - 09:05 AM (#3479024) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Jeri Nice weather for the Presidents' weekend shoppers. But I (and my winter allergies or whatever) will be there. |
13 Feb 13 - 09:56 AM (#3479038) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Where did this thread disappear to in less than an hour? Makes you go, "Huh?" And the first time I posted it, it didn't post -- fortunately I always copy and save before I hit "Submit message". Linn |
13 Feb 13 - 07:29 PM (#3479291) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: GUEST I'm excited to see everyone. It's been a struggle, the last few months, to get and go anywhere. |
13 Feb 13 - 07:41 PM (#3479301) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: GUEST Uhm.. I made the above post, but forgot to sign my name. Maybe I should just make an account?? -Sue |
13 Feb 13 - 07:47 PM (#3479306) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Sue, you can join up (which I highly recommend because then, among other advantages, you can use personal messages. Or you can continue to log on as GUEST, but you can (and it's preferred by management so that GUESTs can be told apart) that you use another identifier along with the word GUEST -- just type it into space left at "From". (So you'd be "GUEST, Sue" or "GUEST, Irishsinger" or whatever you'd like.) There are no adverse repercussions to signing up. Linn |

14 Feb 13 - 07:40 AM (#3479494) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess I think Stephen, who came last time and had talked to Tom during the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival, will be back, too. And, it seems, a lot of regulars who missed last session for one reason or another. See you all on Saturday! Linn |

16 Feb 13 - 09:47 AM (#3480350) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Jeri It's poofy wet snow, and seems to be melting. The road is black and things are dripping, but I can see it being a deterrent here. |
16 Feb 13 - 10:22 AM (#3480357) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: GUEST,Peadar (formerly) of Portsmouth I won't be there, but not because of the snow...I'm still sick. Taking a decongestant to get through a noontime gig, but won't expose y'all. |

16 Feb 13 - 08:42 PM (#3480553) Subject: RE: February Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Well, I'm out of cat litter (again...and damned little of it got into a litter box), but Tom is safely in the house. The ice between the steps and the car melted more after we drove to The Press Room. It was glare ice when we got home. I had to practically crawl to the steps, then come back with the cat litter so Tom had a chance of getting into the house without his feet sliding out from under him. Trying to hold the flashlight AND get the litter onto the icy path was a neat trick. But we succeeded. Good session! Thanks, everybody! It's okay, Pete! Your dad was there with your quite legitimate excuse. Take care of yourself! Right now I'm knackered. I'll post attendance and today's lessons sometime tomorrow. Oh, Peter, your dad will tell you what you missed...maybe I should have brought the gavel and the cat o' nine tails...but we were having too much fun. Linn |

Just to let you know it's 3:56 Monday morning and I'm dressed and just about to follow the EMTs and Tom to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (and I'm on the computer because I need to check my bank balance to see what I'm using to get gas on the way). It's probably just bruising from the fall Tom took sometime between 12:30 and 2 a.m., but he left here on a backboard. He doesn't know how long he was on the floor (he landed on his back) before the cat woke me and I found him. I'll keep you all posted. Linn |
