Whick Babe of Bethlehem? Can you give a few words? There are a lot of songs with that title!

I imagine the one you're seeking is the one recorded by the Golden Ring on Folk-Legacy - recently reissued as our CD-16 CLICK HERE. If so, the Golden Ring folk learned it from Southern Harmony, first printed in New Haven in 1835. George Pullen Jackson reprinted it in Spiritual Folk-Songs of Early America (New York, 1937). The tune is generally associated with the old ballad "Dives and Lazarus" (Child #56). Hope this helps.

Click here for some interesting background information on Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, which is available online if you click here. It's funny that the book doesn't seem to be indexed by song title. I often have trouble finding songs in the online version. Click here for "Babe of Bethlehem."
