01 Apr 13 - 11:43 AM (#3497430) Subject: Bristol UK, Charity folk event, 12Apr13 From: rosma The Dragon Folk Club in Shortwood, near Bristol, UK is holding a charity night for breast cancer care on 12 April 2013. Please come along if you are in the area. The evening will feature John Alderslade, who we hope will be supported by The Bristol Shantymen. Entrance is free and there will be a raffle at the break. Proceeds from the raffle and any other money raised will go to BUST (the Southmead Hospital Breast Care Unit Support Trust). With this and other very occasional exceptions, the Dragon Folk Club is a "singers' night" club held every Friday at The Bridge Inn, Shortwood - everyone is always welcome. For more details and to keep up with our activities, you can visit our new blog. - John Alderslade - Songs, stories and jokes. Lots of choruses and chances for audience participation - The Bristol Shantymen - A popular and well known group performing sea songs and shanties |
01 Apr 13 - 12:16 PM (#3497438) Subject: RE: Bristol UK, Charity folk event, 12Apr13 From: rosma Since this is my first thread on Mudcat I should probably explain, my real name is Simon and I am a regular at the Dragon Folk Club. Before moving to Bristol I was previously to be seen as a small cog on the Reading folk scene, and before that in an even more minor way in Portsmouth. Sorry that my first contribution is essentially an advert; it is however for a good, charitable cause. I hope I can contribute in other ways in the future. |
02 Apr 13 - 11:47 AM (#3497850) Subject: RE: Bristol UK, Charity folk event, 12Apr13 From: Mr Red don't appologise - we are here to discuss what interests Folkies. Information is all grist to the mill. When the brickbats fly you will know the advert is gratuitous. Until then, mentioning Folk Clubs is fine by the majority here. Regards to everyone at the Dragon. |
