Most of the music people listen to is done by session players.

Hugh McCracken was one of the most respected studio musicians ever.

The gentleman's name has cropped up for years in my musical experience.
Session players do not receive anything like the credit they deserve. RIP Mr. McCracken

We spent a few hours together in a studio in NYC in the mid-70's. He was just hanging out in the console room while we did some tracks.Very laid back person, unpretentious. He was good friends with Leanne Ungar, the engineer, and asked at the outset if we minded his being there. He radiated calm.
