Copycat threads are really stupid. Discuss.

I was a British Army PT instructor, PT doesn't make you gay or heterosexual, it just makes you stupid, I am a shining example of this.

LOL Dave! I always hated PE at school and did it as gently as possible, trying to avoid the eagle eye of our PE mistress. I liked ice-skating, horse-riding and swimming, but sustained muscular effort nearly killed me. So IMO, PE doesn't make you heterosexual or homosexual, it makes you TIRED!

Ditto - pointless effort - putting the shot, I ask you, when would anyone ever need to throw a cannonball?

Squat-thrusts perhaps would make you asexual!

Falls at the first hurdle.

Porn movies are often shot in gyms.

Allegedly.

So I have been reliably informed.

According to some.

Apparently, the final scene in Debbie Does Dallas....

I'll get me etc.

thread creep.
you are as usual missing the point joe offer, the point of this statement is that is has no logic, logicaly that means that the converses has no logic
so joe, it is not as you put it a copycat thread, but a thread that threough the use of logic destroys an argument[eg PE stops you from being homosexual] do you understand, JOE?

PE has nothing to do with it. Heterosexuality is a lifestyle choice.
There is no proof whatsoever that it is genetic. Please point me to a peer-reviewed article in the scientific literature that identifies the "heterosexual gene".
It is possible that heterosexuality is determined in-utero by the atitude of the mother. In that case, since it is not genetic, we must treat it as a lifestyle choice.

There - I just saved about a thousand posts dint I?

TIA, you just about summed it all up perfectly.

Or...wait a moment...were you, by any chance, just being sarcastic...?

(ROFLMAO; your post should be cross-stitched, framed and marketed)

GSS says: "you are as usual missing the point joe offer, the point of this statement is that is has no logic, logicaly that means that the converses has no logic joe, it is not as you put it a copycat thread, but a thread that threough the use of logic destroys an argument[eg PE stops you from being homosexual] do you understand, JOE?"

Not commenting on the snarkiness but- wouldn't it have been possible and even easier to make that point on the first thread?

When I see copycat threads I usually attempt a guess as to the OP- this time I was surprised.

I do see your point Ebbie. But GSS's point would have been lost in the swirling brown cloud of the other thread. As a stand-alone, I think it makes a really strong (but perhaps misunderstood because of understandable attitudes about copycats and trolls) argument.

I think PE stops people from being physical.

When I look back at physical education classes in school, it seems to me that they were designed to take the joy out of being young, healthy and energetic.

Volleyball was the best example. I was short and had bad eyes. The teacher taught us all a technique called 'spiking,' which consisted of having a bigger kid with dead eyes send the ball right into my face with all the force she could. In those days my glasses were actually made of glass, and that was a stupid and vicious thing to do.

As soon as I could, I signed up for six semesters of swim, never mind that the pool was cold.

my point is that Physical Education has nothing to do with being homosexual or heterosexual.
Joe Offer must have been having a bad day.

leeneia, yes I agree. The hard physical effort in the gym seemed to me a bit military, brutal and uncomfortable, and certainly joyless. It was all too 'hearty' and the wretched PE mistress would bellow at us like a sergeant major. No fun at all. Yet swimming, riding and skating made me happy and I loved them. I also liked folk dancing. So PE also makes you miserable! By the way (thread drift) the aforementioned PE mistress was insensitive enough to draw attention to my slightly bandy legs and knock knees. She offered 'special exercises' to correct them (in front of all the other pupils). I was mortified with embarrassment and cried afterwards in the toilets with shame. My dad 'went up the school' and gave her what for!
