From: Harmonium Hero Using the term 'troupe' with reference to Morris dancers can seriously injure your health; indeed, it might put your continued existence in jeopardy. Not sure about 'troops' though. Haven't heard that one before. 'Troupe' should only be used with reference to Fluffy Morris. The rest of us are called 'sides' or 'teams'. I'm not sure how widespread it is; I've always thought it was mainly a North West phenomenon, but could be wrong. It's supposed to have developed from Ladies' North West Morris. It's danced by girls with pom-poms, and is a competitive pastime JK |
