06 May 13 - 02:58 AM (#3511999) Subject: Fastnet Maritime and Folk Festival 2013 From: The Sandman THE 2013 Fastnet Maritime and Folk Festival takes place in Ballydehob from June14-16 this year with a huge range of performers already confirmed to take part. Among those appearing this year will be Jimmy Crowley, Matt Cranitch and Jackie Daly, Baggyrinkle Swansea Shantymen, Jim Mageaan, Dick Miles, Jim Bainbridge Andrew Mackay and Carole Etherton, Rubicon,Lands End Bluegrass band, the Cork Singers' Club and many many more. There will be an opening 60 minute concert, "I'll live till I die", a celebration in talk and song of Delia Murphy, by her neice Carmen Cullen on Friday, June 14th at 8:15pm, admission €6 in Ballydehob Community Hall A free songwriting competition sponsored by IMRO with cash prizes of €250 will take place at 3pm on Saturday, June 15th in Vincent Coughlans, lyric sheets to be posted to Richard Miles, Cooragurteen, Ballydehob, closing postal date May 31st. As well as live performances there will be a number of workshops during the festival including fiddle with Matt Cranitch and button accordion with Jackie Daly and beginner's bodhran workshop with Ivan Camier. |
