Folk clubs northern Queensland or Darwin

Hi

We'll be travelling in northern Queensland (Cairns to Cooktown) and the NT (Darwin, Kakadu, and down to Katherine) and I'd love to track down any folk music clubs or circles. The Top End Folk Club website seems to be abandoned (no updates for several years) and there's no reply when I email the address.

We'll be there from mid-July to mid-August this year.

Any suggestions of who to contact or websites would be welcome.

I'm at mbuechert@telus.net

Thanks!

Thanks, Sandra.

I did try the secretary@topendfolkclub.org address and didn't receive any response. I also noted that the last posting of info seems to date to 2010, and the site indicates it was last updated in 2008, which is why I wondered if the club was still active.

I will try some of the other committee members.

I'm not familiar with the Cairns folk scene but as there is an annual festival at nearby Yungaburra I guess something is happening up that way. Perhaps you can make contact through that site -
Tablelands Folk Festival

If you are on facebook and can make contact with Col Sai, he lives in Cairns, and runs a folk music radio progam there.
