Just watched the second programme in series 2 of Jackson Brodie and wondered of anyone new who it is that is singing the songs featured in this and the first programme.

Nice voice and some nice songs - any know anything?

Thanks very much

K/van

Eliza Gylkyson sang Roses At The End Of Time, but I think there were other singers too.

Thanks for that 'Guest'. I've looked up Eliza Gilkyson and found alink to a page giving all of the artists on this series of 'Case Histories'

They are

Mary Gauthier Mercy Now
Nanci Griffith Speed of the Sound of Loneliness
Iris DeMent I'll Take My Sorrow Straight   & Trouble
Lucinda Williams Seet Old World & Bus to Baton rouge & Blue
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Your Long Journey
Eliza Gilkyson When You Walk on & Calm Before the Storm
Kylie Minogue 2Hearts
Zero 7 Destiny
Lori MacKenna Drinkin Problem
Macy Gray Winter Wonderland
Kris Delmhorst Since You Went Away
The XX's VCR
Joan as PoliceWoman The Magic

One hell of a line up. If they put these tracks out on a CD then I think that I'll be buying it.

Agreed K/van. Fabulous soundtrack and a very well acted and produced series too. Still can't help thinking of Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy though!

Ooops - that was me "guest" above. I cleared my browsing history and lost my cookies. Thanks for the follow up info. :)

Interestingly I found the soundtrack intrusive & annoying, too loud & unsuitable. Just goes to show one mans meat etc...

Yes, I didn't find it intrusive, but I wonder if that was because I enjoyed the songs so much. Maybe it would have been different if it had been tracks that I didn't like.

Were they the sort of tracks that you would listen to in another context Les?

I suppose the fact that I noticed them might suggest that they were intrusive - a subject for another thread maybe,,,,,, Should a soundtrack be pitched so that you hear it without realising?

As you say, you can't please all the people...

No I wouldn't normally listen to Americana, but I felt that the songs were too loud & intrusive in the context they were used in. They weren't used sufficiently in the background to create an atmosphere such as in 'Heartbeat' for instance. Too much in your face for me.
