Heard this at Norwell happening. Think it was a result of a song competition in the past

I've heard a singer called Mitch do this and think that he probably wrote it but not absolutely sure on this. He's a regular at the Kiveton Park Folk Club, near Sheffield. Haven't actually got his contact details but the club organisers can probably put you in touch:-

I always tell people that Barrelhouse Annie's "If it don't fit don't force it" is about flat pack furniture instead of....

Finagles Law of Planned Obsolescence - If it doesnt fit , force it - If you force it and it breaks it needed replacing anyway

Lyrics?

The title suggests Ikea's schlock.

'Flat-Pack Furniture Blues' is hilarious. Don't know who wrote it but a guy called John Mitchell (a.k.a. Mitch) from, I think, the Sheffield area does it. Brilliant. :0) :0)

I think from what I remember of Mitch's lyrics it predates IKEA and goes back to those halcyon days of MFI - it is an extremely funny song.

The song was actually written by excellent local George Hill. It is on his album Haphazard Images.
Mitch does a fine version.
Steve.

Look, this is driving me mad! I've hunted all over the net and Googles myself silly, but I can't find the LYRICS to this song. PLEASE would SOMEBODY write them down here, or I shan't sleep tonight!!! (I looked up George Hill, but it seems the chap is some sort of sportsman, maybe basketball or something.)

Is that George Hill who used to go to No Smoke Foke in Chapeltown?

Seems a connection here. I used to go to no smoke with Mitch.

He wrote many songs but did do songs by others. I assumed he wrote it but there again I never asked. I do many of his but sadly not that one.

I haven't seen him since they were guests at my wedding the other year. I moved into North Lincolnshire and just about lost touch. Going to ring at the weekend. We have been good mates 35 years so about time I went over to Worksop.

I think it is on a CD I have of him somewhere.

Very funny guys, both.
Haven't seen either for some time, hope they're both hale and hearty still.
